Monster Energy DTR Posted March 16, 2014 Share Posted March 16, 2014 I recently bought a bike and questioned the bloke about the plate, he reckons the plate is legal but says I can have the original if I want it. Anyway completely forgot the original plate and so now I'm wondering if it is legal or not, looks so much tidier than the standard size plate so if it's legal I'll be happy. This means, motorcycles registered from 1 September 2001 must only display a number plate at the rear of the vehicle. Motorcycles registered before 1 September 2001 can display a number plate at the front, but do not have to. The number plate must be a “2-line” number plate and must be displayed on all motorcycles registered on or after 1 January 1973. Tricycles derived from four-wheeled bodies, such as saloon cars and quad bikes must meet the normal requirements above. Tricycles derived from motorcycles must meet the requirements for motorcycles shown below. Only on replacements, that plate of yours is legal. If you replaced it for another one. Then your illegal.
