Nyx Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 'Ello, newbie here, both to the forums and to biking. I got my CBT done in September and started scouting for first bikes. Years of familial teasing about being short (I'm 5'8"!) is apparently embedded deep into my brain, because I went for the Custom rather than the regular YBR simply for the lower seat height. About a week of angst based around what a massive mistake it was to have such a shiny, good-nick bike as my first one, I came out of our drive onto the massive hill I live on, had to stop for a car coming up the slope, put my foot... and my weight... on the downhill side... and toppled over in supremely slow motion. The car driver even paused to watch (but not to help when I had to pick the thing up, of course). End result: scratch on the tank, end of the it's-too-shiny feeling, and I've loved the bike since. What's amused me most is the way the bike's inspired the rest of my family. My brother, eternally broke, is begging for money to do his CBT, and my dad's finally restoring the Triumph Trident he's had sitting in his shed for twenty years. I'm just sad I don't live closer to either of them - both for bragging purposes and to get in on that restore. Anyway, yeah, I think that's me and my motorcycling life so far in a nutshell. Glad to be here! I'm looking forward to digging through all the mechanical knowledge and building up some of my own. Oh, I live up in Derbyshire, so here's the bike posing in its new natural habitat: I promise the warning stickers are off now... 1
FizzyRascal Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Welcome. I have two YBR Customs (one Silver/Grey and one Black) - great little bikes. Enjoy! And ride safe.
Moderator DirtyDT Posted March 1, 2014 Moderator Posted March 1, 2014 Hi and welcome to the forum. We have a few Derbyshire members here.
bippo Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Good intro, welcome to the forum! The YBR (non custom) was my first bike, loved it. I'm onto a Triumph Tiger now which I love even more! Also living in Derbyshire, in fact the sun is shining and I've finished walking the dog so I think I may go out for a ride! Stay safe.
