hippyracer Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Hello Guys I can feel a knocking through my left side foot pedal when my bike is moving. I've got a feeling it might be my drive chain as it has a seized link, I've got new chain and sprocket....just waiting for some decent weather to fit. If it is not the drive chain, does anyone have an idea what else it might be? Any help would be much appreciated.
blackhat250 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 It will be the link. i have one on my DT ,,and it thumps wen i push it round the garage,,, , How many miles on the engine,,,
hippyracer Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 it's done just over 12500 miles. I did give the chain a good lube and the knocking disappeared for a while.
blackhat250 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 yeh your on the case". and 12,500 is nowt =just run in ..
hippyracer Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks blackchat250. All I need now is a good day of dry weather so I can fit new chain and sprockets, here's hoping.
neversaydie Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Change it ASAP, other people on here have had chains give on the move with disasterous results, additional mechanical damage
hippyracer Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Will do. Hopefully i'll be doing on Thursday, weather permitting. Thank you for the help, much appreciated.
pilninggas Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Easier to change the chain and sprocket than ruin bearings or do some serious damage. Get it done or you could rue delaying it.
hippyracer Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 New chain and sprocket fitted, no more knocking, smoother gear change and looks good too. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.
