fitting lights to a bike that doesnt have any

if you take an electric start bike with lights etc an change to a motocross engine how hard is it to wire up the existing lights to the magneto

I assume this is the same as making an mx bike road legal

however my bike has a battery if using a kick start engine do I still need to use the battery
