Prichard XT Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 so iv wanted to get more power out my xt 125 r engine im still working on this but I brought a engine last year for cheap and it was a good runner Suzuki 250cc AC SOHC 4v twin exhaust port with carb supposedly produces 20.1hp on the bike it came off has a standard 3 phase stator + single timing pick up it will need new brackets made and electrics I have a 12v 3phase rec no cdi sprocket alignes like its meant to swap I have my mod 2 DAS in a couple of weeks so questions are would it be worth it (im keeping this bike for ever ) will I need its original cdi or would I be able to run a xt's and has any one else done this to there xt
Tommy xs Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 good luck! I think you could pick up a similar 250 very cheap alot less hassle & without hacking your xt, just not worth the hassle to me also definitely need suzi cdi if you do decide to try it
jimmy Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 You'll need to change the cdi, and probably some other leccy stuff. Once you tell the insurance you will almost certainly need an Engineers report to ensure it is all done correctly, and the brakes and suspension can take it.
Moderator Cynic Posted June 9, 2013 Moderator Posted June 9, 2013 Lot effort for not a lot of oomf. The bike will only gain maybe 10mph and a little acceleration . Be interesting what if though.
Prichard XT Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 well I would strip the trics out of the xt and probably use the engine on something else engineer report is something I could possibly get from my local yam dealer im always up there and they will help me get it to standard insurance and dvla ill defo be telling but I guess I best get searching for the rest of the electrics then supposedly XT stock only produces 9.?hp 20 should be fun cheers for that
Moderator Cynic Posted June 9, 2013 Moderator Posted June 9, 2013 Well i remember the rs250. Because it was hilarious watching them trying to stay with me on a 350pv and my mate on a rd125, one of the first pv bikes. Would the 350 go in......(said quietly. Whistling innocently)
iandouglas Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 remids me of this - mz 250 doubled up to make it a 500, note these engines just hang off the centre of the t frame, no front cradle
busyeddie Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Someone did that with a suzi x7 I think. Not very balanced I remember...
Moderator Cynic Posted June 9, 2013 Moderator Posted June 9, 2013 There are still stories round my way of a rd400 motor in a 125 frame.... Fun times
Prichard XT Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 well the xt 660 would fit in with the petrol tank reformed and a bit of welding yeah a 350 would
Prichard XT Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 the loom for the suzi 250 has arrived all I need is oil change, cdi, ignition coil and make two downpipes £200 and it will be time for me to get to work it uses the exact same battery 1 less cost happy days
