cathunter Posted May 6, 2013 Share Posted May 6, 2013 hi iv got a oil leak on a dt 125 r its coming from the gear lever. its just drips every now and again.. i think its the gear change shaft oil seal could anybody tell me is this a easy job or do i need to get into the engine to change it.or can i empty the oil and some how get the seal out from the outside . any veiws on it would be a help cheers Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Moderator DirtyDT Posted May 6, 2013 Moderator Share Posted May 6, 2013 Normally you can change these by popping them out and then putting a new one in. Getting an old one out can be difficult. Self tapping screws are a common method. Rub the new seal with oil before popping it in and use a socket to tap it in squarely. You should drain the oil first.
