Its a display of dominance, the more petrol you can turn into noise, the more power you have, the alpha-ricer has the loudest car. as for the plywood, the more aerodynamically unstable you can make your car, the better, it improves handling Also, (most) jap stuff isnt shite, whereas if you look at british cars from around 94 (my FTOs era) how many have electric mirrors/windows, climate control and 200bhp from an engine with the capacity of a coke bottle?
