Paulwhite
hi all been a while since iv put a new topic up, the bobber is in bits in the shed ready for when i decide to get back to biking ...(passed my cage test and been using it since) ......plus im low on funds so cant afford to run both the car and bike..(devistated)... sooooo i thought about how i could make some extra dosh....and came up with a furnace at the mo iv got it all set up ready to melt down any aluminum that i can get my hands on! (gonna give it a test run tomoz night and take some pics) at 1st i was just going to melt it down, turn into blocks then take to the scrap yard......but metal prices have dropped to the point where it wouldnt be worth it. so im thinking of making some cast aluminum parts ......but dont know what to make. anyone got any ideas? (nothing too fancy..... its my 1st time) i was thinking something like custom brake/clutch levers but im open to ideas.

wild foamy
medallions and YOC merchandise would be cool, we could give them away as prizes in YOC competitions lol

Grouch
How about making weapons? You could make swords, daggers etc. There's a shop near me that sells replica swords and that from fantasy films like Lord of The Rings and other gay shit like that. Moderator DirtyDT Posted June 6, 2012 Moderator Share Posted June 6, 2012 Cod pieces? Be careful with things like levers. If they are cast and have air bubbles in them they will snap when most needed and "...where there's blame, there's a claim...."
Grouch
Wouldn't aluminium be a really weak metal to make lever's anyway?
Moderator DirtyDT Posted June 6, 2012 Moderator Share Posted June 6, 2012 It's fine if it isn't full of bubbles, like an aero.

Or, to avoid the 'Gay Shit', learn to forge and make real swords like Paul Binns - Pattern-welded blades are fucking awesome, very sturdy and go for a couple thousand quite easily! Replica blades are utterly crap and the market is flooded with far too much cheap shite. Even EN45 re-enactment blades kick the shit out of them! Paulwhite
hmmmm.....could do but it depends if the clutch cover had enough metal to it, to put new threads for the window, otherwise it would mean making a new cast of the casing........might take a while to get it right. at the mo im thinking small for starters, like key rings, ......i did come across plans to make a lathe from cast aluminium might give that a go at some point.
