Hello folks :)

After many years of "getting a bike this year" I have finally had the fortune of having the time, the money and the inspiration to get it done.

I'm starting a new job in the countryside in a month, after nearly 15 years working in central London, so am really looking forward to a less complex commute than all that walking, bussing, training, bussing, then more walking! I'm hoping to be able commute primarily by bike, just bottling out to the old cage when the ice starts making a showing.

So, long story short, I have my CBT booked in for Wednesday, I have a bunch of gear ready, and tomorrow I go looking at bikes! The plan as it stands is to check out the YBR 125, as they seem to be highly recommended both as a starter bike, and as a fair commuter bike.

The choice seems to hinge now on the 'standard' or the 'custom'. The differences seem to be mostly cosmetic, but I do really like the more classic open look. I'll have to have a nice long look at them at make a last-minute decision :)

So anyway, just a quick 'hello' - I dare say once I can actually ride something I'll be back, all excited!

Thanks,

Cyl.

All those stories my dad used to tell me about his old BSA Bantam, Vincent, side-cars, dismantling engines on his mum's kitchen table and baking them out in the oven have ruined me for full-fairing super-sport bikes :)

Of course I reserve my right* to change my mind in a year or two when I get my big boy's license.

(*Then again, the missus may remove that right again - in the interests of financial prudence!)

Thanks for all your help and information folks, I'm sure it's just the beginning!

Here's my new bike that I picked up yesterday, and now has a bold five miles on the clock. Would have been more, but I had to get home while it was still light and dig a hole to concrete an anchor into :)

Hi folks, been a while since I've popped in, but I finally passed all my tests last week :)

Just acquired myself a Yamaha XJ6 Diversion, should be ready for delivery tomorrow! Can't wait - bit of a step up from the trusty ol' YBR.

Got it! Not bad - next day. I've had nothing but good service from the folks at Woking Yamaha. Feels a lot bigger than it looks in that picture!

Okay, I'm going to fire my photographer though. Seems his iPhone in full sunlight doesn't get a black bike very well :)

Great one, yes I've dealt with Woking Yamaha before - a good bunch.

Enjoy yourself, you have fantastic weather at the moment while you get used to your new steed! :headbang:
