Moderator Airhead Posted March 27, 2012 Moderator Posted March 27, 2012 I would be surprised if it hasnt already been done . i'm sure if you use the search function you will find lots of ideas Greetings and
Paullaith Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 I opened my air filter today to find masking tape wrapped around the plastic thing the air filter bolts to covering most of it. Why would anyone do that? Took it off but cant try out as got my CBT saturday : )
blackhat250 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Welcome paul " that tape won"t help airflow any way,,
Paullaith Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Ive did my CBT today, been on the bike done 65 mile lol. It seems well and unrestricted its nothing like it was when i test drove it. Can i make the ypvs come in earlier as it comes in at 7k.
2 Wheels Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Well it should come in at 6k instead,,,,,,, dont think there's any way to make it come in earlier,,,,,, so mabey you have another prob along the line somewhere
Moderator Airhead Posted April 1, 2012 Moderator Posted April 1, 2012 no you cant move the power band to where you'd like it best, just set it up correctly and then 'it is what it is' have fun...great bikes
Paullaith Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Hi all, need help as ive broke my Yam : ( i was riding down my street giving it some ypvs active then it went with a pop and cut out, i pulled over and tried kicking it and it wouldnt start and made a pop now and again. Tried kicking it some more and kick start has jammed and wont move in gear at all. All help would be greatly appreciated.
2 Wheels Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Aaaa Jaysus,, Were you hammering it down the road for ages at full revs ? Take the plug out and leave it overnight,,,,,,you might be in a hydrolic lock. With plug out will the engine turn over at all. You may have broken rings making piston stuck The power valve may have hit the piston making it stuck. You may have messed with the carb settings and now the engine has overheated and seized ( stuck ) Either way its not looking good ! Did you do anything to the bike to make it go faster ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Moderator Airhead Posted April 1, 2012 Moderator Posted April 1, 2012 take the exhaust off and look for damage to the piston, doesnt sound good!
Paullaith Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 No just removed the tape and i had to adjust the carb as it was over reving ounce i took it off. I was only on full throttle for about 5 secs. Im getting the bike over to a mates tonight so il try them things and report back asap.
Paullaith Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 I can wobble my flywheel slightly think all the crank is moving with it very little though. Is this normal?
Moderator Airhead Posted April 13, 2012 Moderator Posted April 13, 2012 no pal its not normal, sounds like it needs new crank bearings and seals if there is up/down play at the flywheel
Paullaith Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 I've put new bearings in but there was very minor wear were the crank sits in the bearing so looks like I need a new crank not put the engine back in the bike yet.
Moderator Airhead Posted April 13, 2012 Moderator Posted April 13, 2012 yeah you should have stopped when you noticed this, sounds like a bearing seized and the crank spun inside it...is this what you found...a trashed bearing?
Paullaith Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 No the piston shattered but didnt damage the bore some how. The wear is very minor my mate has put the engine back together now with new bearings. Was wanting to know if it would be ok or do I need to change the crank?
Moderator Airhead Posted April 14, 2012 Moderator Posted April 14, 2012 perhaps the piston shattered because the crank was loose in the bearing, its a NO from me...and a new crank is a YES
Paullaith Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Managed to source a crank for £30 so picking that up next weekend then hopefully I can get it back on the road. Put a 260 main jet in why I had it in bits and done the inlet mod to. Thanks for the advice.
Moderator Airhead Posted April 15, 2012 Moderator Posted April 15, 2012 £30 that was a steal, hope its a good un!
