Si_Co Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Hi guys, I have recently passed my CBT and bought a new YBR125. I am no spring chicken and a bit of a wide load, so I find my rear view somewhat restricted. Has anybody found a work-around for this problem? replacement mirrors of extended stems etc? That will fit my bike. I have looked around the inter-webs and local motorbike shops but, as yet haven't found the solution. So I thought I'd come to the experts, one of you fine fellows, or fellesses must have the answer. Looking forward to your replies, Si.
Moderator DirtyDT Posted December 3, 2011 Moderator Posted December 3, 2011 Hmmmm. 2 possible solutions Si; 1) Handlebar end mirrors, possibly 2) Ask Santa for a healthy eating cookbook I would look at option 1 only personally.
NE0 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I'm not familiar with the YBR but for many bikes there are a few solutions. If these fit they come in different thread sizes you could consider Mirror extenders fit on the brake and clutch http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-MIRROR-STEM-EXTENSION-EXTENDER-10MM-THREAD-40MM-/370558741226?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item564705aaea or extend the mirror arms, these are in various lengths http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-MOTORCYCLE-MIRROR-EXTENDER-EXTENSION-100mm-CHROME-10mm-thread-/130606951050?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item1e68c7ea8a or if you have a fairing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/03-11-Suzuki-SV650-SV-650-650S-SV650S-Mirror-Extenders-/260888393198?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cbe28f5ee or change the design and go for longer arm chrome type http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mirrors-mirror-super-chrome-10mm-reverse-fit-Yamaha-YBR125-pair-left-right-hand-/110784191094?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item19cb409a76
triton john Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 As mentioned bar end mirrors or if they ar the old fashioned chrome stalk type cut the stalk in half and then run a die down it ie 8mm then turn up a bar of about 3 inches and thread that internaly at each end or all the way through. Screw the bit you have internally threaded onto the bit from the handlebar then screw the mirror end onto that bit and hey presto you have gained some mirior. Make it decent though and use a bit of stainless it is just as easy to do a job properly than do a bodge joob !
