Jameswallace Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Hi! Thought is introduce myself, Ive just today shook hands on a purchase of a Yamaha ms50e from 1985! This will be the 2nd bike I've owned, the first being a Peugeot speed fight (yuk) which I hated! I also drive a citroen 2cv, and I bought the bike as a run around, and to enjoy! Even if it may only be a 50cc!
Moderator Airhead Posted November 24, 2011 Moderator Posted November 24, 2011 welcome James, Oohh an ms50...i'm not familiar with that one and from your choice of car you must like quirky things so i'm expecting quirky moped, go on show us
blackhat250 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Welcome james,, got any pics of the 50cc? i remeber Ty50p, restricted to 30mph
Jameswallace Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Once ive got the bike in a week or do I'll start a thread up on it I'm 18 and both my vehicles are older than me! I do like quirky things, the 2cv is un believably particle, I re chassised it in 8.5 hours! Anyway it's a Yamaha forum, My intentions for the bike is to use it through the winter, and come spring restore it, re build the engine, and use it some more! Saying that I'll probably never get round to it. But if I do I will do a restoration thread on the fourm Anyway I can't wait to get my cbt, bung some L plates on and ride it Eventually I'll do my full test, so I can bin the L plates!
Jameswallace Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Blackhat250, I believe the bike was built before restrictions applied, (it was built on 1985) but I wonder how or where I could find some information to de restrict Im using it as a commuter so no more than 45 is needed!
Moderator DirtyDT Posted November 25, 2011 Moderator Posted November 25, 2011 Hi and welcome tot the forum. I just missed out on a MS50 recently off evilbay. I was going to ride it to the YOC weekend. This one was what I was bidding on LINKY
Jameswallace Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Oh dear!! How's slow do these bikes go? The eBay ad isn't truthful Says its the only one on the road.. Mines been on the road well over 9 months
Moderator Airhead Posted November 25, 2011 Moderator Posted November 25, 2011 lol yes its a slow thing but it sure fits the 'quirky' billing...enjoy it James, looks like you have a real rarity there
Jameswallace Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Yes, and considering what i paid i cant complain Been looking around, and cant find any spares at all few sites do a bit, but cant find a exhaust for example! I geuss when i restore it ill have to do a fair amount of diy'ing Although there are a few bits on ebay, they seem pricey but i geuss tyere far and few between Saw one on auto trader for 800 So i now v nearly own a v rare bike, and a in creasingly rare car When i get the bike, ill be taking pics etc for you all!
