Picked up this bike yesterday. I think it's a 1977 XS500 but can't find a way to be sure. Serial number on the frame and the engine start with 583 xxxxxx. Any help would be appreciated.

1976 TT500C maybe? Probably American or Canadian.

You may be correct. There is a post on another forum that mentions 583 as the number for a 1976 TT500. Wish I could find it in a book or complete listing somewhere.

You may be correct. ............

I think I am.

Very nice bikes and that one looks like one of the earliest.

Wouldn't the XT have a 1E6 frame number? 583 says TT to me

Posted

Possibly, not sure on that, but certainly looks like the XT that my mate used to run, even down to the colour. (Although his was in better condition, but that's 20+ years ago!!)

And the winner of the guess the bike model 583 goes to Dirty

I do like both the XT and TT 500's. They are on my list.

Good skills!! Didn't realise the TT and XT were so similar - that's why it looked like it!!

To be honest I first thought it was an XT

Thanks guys. I could not find it in the list that was on the Net. Glad you posted it.

I have more projects than I can handle so this one is going to be passed on to someone else. I ride Trials so most of my Yamaha's are TY's, I have put it on Ebay but am willing to take it off if someone wants it.

By the way PLEASE TELL ME if you think the Ebay price is to high!!!!!!
