Don't envy you taking the carbs out though they are snugged in pretty tight.

u rekon this is defo the problem then? do they have to be removed or is there a short cut way?? the bike sounds beautiful when its standing still shame it dont wana go lol

unfortunately there is no easy way, the bike is running on the pilot jets then when you open the throttle the pressure change as the butterfly's open cause more fuel and air to enter the motor, when it isn't running properly or there is a jet blocked the upsy downy nature of the cylinder vacume causes the problems your discribing.

dam it, so close. ok ill take them out and get em stripped when i get chance. anything to look out for whilst doing this??

I am going to get abused by posting this but redex may help. Personally I would not use it, especially on a high mileage bike, Halford should sell it and you pour it in the fuel tank. I will not be responsible for any damage but it will "have a clear out" of gunk in the carbs and cylinders. It makes the bike smoke like a 2 stroke but that clears when the stuff has burnt out.

As I said, I will expect to get abused for even suggesting it. The Americans have a similar thing called seafoam which is supposed to be great but I have never seen it here (UK).

yeah good old redex, used on many of my old ford escorts lol. think ill try the strip down job over the weekend. its as if its recieving too much fuel cos it starts caughing it out the top of the carbs.

Split diaphragms?

think you have the wrong ingnitor, not sure if you have the fox eye version,

I just taken a piccy for you of mine if it a 89/90 like mine it should have an iggy box like this 3HE

check your breather pipes on the carbs

just read through your post again it was the coils not the CDI which have 3HU on
