Just a quick update.

Lots of parcels and packets are still being delivered. My better half called me at work last week after the postman had been and said it was starting to get embarrassing :P

Had a row with the people at parcelfarce about a parcel from the States that was being held for customs charging but I had not received the card to enable me to pay them. Sorted that.

A late delivery from Juan-les-Pins yesterday evening with another pukker exhaust, a chrome tail piece (both hens teeth parts) and a few other pieces.

Some parts still on backorder.

Still some painting to do.

A reducing parts list.

I have one set of forks apart but I think it is too late to get these hard chromed now. I am probably going to have to tidy up the other forks I have for the time being.

Sourced a headlight - Hope it gets through an MOT - but still looking for a better one. Apparently it is the same as Yamaha Part.number 1A0-64320-61-00 as fitted to RD400's and XS 400's. Anyone have a good one?

Called the wheel bloke. He said he was still waiting for the rims? Will start to push him next week.

The seat is going to be a lot of work but are very difficult to find.

A few more bits bolted on.

That's about it.

Ticks over really well but still no wheels. Tidied forks drying on the left.

Took them in for new rims, spokes,tyres etc. Called the shop a couple of weeks ago and they were still waiting for the rims to rebuild them. I will call them next week and start to push. I know that they get the parts from Central Wheels. It's been over 7 weeks now now and is outside of my control. I suppose the good thing is I haven't paid for them yet and still a lot to do.

Hmm, central wheels. They tried to tell me that 3 months to respoke my tdr wheels was std practice.

They wanted 4 to 6 weeks to confirm they could do it after inspecting the wheels (at my cost) . Then another 4 to six weeks to re spoke them.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease, i'd be making myself a first class pain in the arse or they could litterally be months before you get them.

I didn't take them to CW but the guy I took them to said it would be about 6 weeks. If they are going to be much longer I will have them back - assuming he hasn't cut all the spokes out - and just get some tyres on them.

3 months for a re-spoke, that is taking the P*ss.

Spoke to the wheelbuilder today. The first wheel is built and the second will be built by the weekend, he was waiting for the hub paint to dry. He said that he was struggling to get the tyres I wanted in the sizes I need. He could get the front one but there were none of the rears in the Country (?) I think that it was down to the imperial sizes.

I was looking at TW301/TW302's which are advertised on the Tinterweb but the rims are no good without some rubber so I said either put Conti TKC80's or Michelin T63's on it. Imperial or metric sizes are fine but match the pair.

Hopefully I can collect them next Friday.

Aye Dirty, the origionals were TW25 front and TW44 rear,,,,,,, they dont make them anymore.

You can still buy TW301 front and TE302 rear. There a nice tyre,,,inbetween road tyre an dirt tyre.

I'll have a look for them if ya want.

Hi Pat. Great pics in the other thread on the Scotland tour.

It was the TW301 front and TW302 rear that I specified but he said he could only get the front. They are advertised on the web but the place is 40 miles each way so have gone for something else. I just want to pick them up shod.

Latest update.

Forks on. Headlamp shell on. Axles and chain adjusters on ready for the wheels. Electrics started.

I will get some painting done tomorrow hopefully.

Indicators - on their way.

Worked out all of the lights - fronts all working

Got a patten tail light for it - on tomorrow

Tested the horn connections with a tester - works on the button

The rectifier gets really hot but not fitted the battery properly as I need to do some work on the battery box.

If it is the banna shaped exhaust one, parts are very easy to come by. If it is the same shape as mine then good luck and very deep pockects will be required. A lot of stuff will be the same as mine and the ER. I think the 76 only had a Nicosil barrel. It only lasted for this year but is interchangeable with later ones (incuding the ER). A lot of ER stuff fits as does the 185's BUT a lot doesn't!! A lot of stuff shared with the GT's (all) and X5/7's

Be aware that there are loads of parts you will struggle to find. I have a shed full of spares but some are too rare to share. I have a couple of original manuals but they are very basic and the haynes one isn't worth getting.

Although I have had this one for about 18 months, I actually haven't ridden it.

This project has consumed too much of my time and cash. So if it is finished before Squires, so be it, if not then it may be the SV.

I need to focus on the family and house.

Been out in the garden too long and the sun has made him go a bit nutts.

Can of beer and some time in front of the telly , maybe some porn (TS bike manuals with the pages turned very slowly :wank4az: ) and he will forget all about that fam?....chi...? er y'know that stuff that gets in the way.
