May 14, 201113 yr Moderator The rad cap should only let anything out if the pressure gets too high. you may have an air lock. Never try to take the cap off when, or soon after, the bike has been run as you well seriously hurt yourself.
May 14, 201113 yr Check the coolant level in the expansion tank when the engine is cold then again when the engine is hot .You should find the level has gone up in the tank when hot as the coolant expands in the rad when hot and transfers it to the expansion tank then draws it back into the rad when it cools down.
May 15, 201113 yr Author is there any reason to doubt that its working ? well it just seems knackered for some reason but when it over heated it wasnt doing anything.
May 15, 201113 yr Moderator overheating on a DTR? Thats often a head gasket leak, there are lots of cheap pattern gaskets around and if they are fitted dry they dont last long...been there, got the T shirt
