shntat Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 today i put one the wiring harness i had to do this before i put on the airbox and suction tube. i had to shorten the ignition coil wires and the magneto wires as well to make them work with the harness it was long so they could run without a harness. here is the list of part for april i will install 1 flasher 2 78 YAMAHA DT125 DT 125 175 DT175 HEADLIGHT EAR BRACKETS 3 1978 YAMAHA DT175 DT 175 BRAKE WIRING 125 250 400 4 Yamaha Pan Head Screw Lot of 17 Part# 98586-05016 5 1978 YAMAHA DT125, OIL PUMP, AT1 6 Yamaha DT175 DT 175 carb carburetor throttle cable 7 YAMAHA DT175 XT125 BRAKE LEVER AND PURCH GENUINE OEM 8 1978 yamaha dt175 dt 175 enduro y28 rear fender suport 9 Yamaha DT175 DT125 FRONT BRAKE STOP SWITCH DT 175 QS1M1 10 YAMAHA DT100 DT125 DT175 HEAD LAMP UNIT & CASE 11 NOS Yamaha Delivery Pipe Connector 79-81 MX175 DT175 12 90445-05N13-00 HOSE (L200) 2 13 90445-092K1-00 HOSE (L420) 1 so i cant wait till my ssi check shows up on the first
shntat Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 as you can see i have put some new and used parts on i removed the after market fender and in the photo of rear tire you can see i am missing the turn signal brackets my nine didget vin number is hard to find a report on because in 1981 the hiway patrol made 17 diget vin numbers standard so i was wondering where i can search for pre 1981 vin reports
Moderator DirtyDT Posted April 20, 2011 Moderator Posted April 20, 2011 what is a VIN report ? Like an AA car check. They use company's like Carfax but because they have a different way of registration (all on the VIN not the reg) they have the opposite problem to us in that our DVLC search everything from the reg number they do everything from the VIN. shntat Just for the record, the Highway Patrol didn't introduce Standardisation of 17 digit VIN numbers. There is certain information that can be obtained from the shorter VIN but this may not tell you the bike history as I do not know how the USA registration works. Or if people like Carfax accept short versions of VIN numbers for checking. I would guess someone must do as there are a lot of USA members there who have older bikes and these have papers (Green slips???) and are registered in the States.
