growls
Howdy, I woke up one morning to find my front brake caliper hanging lose on the wheel - both bolts had vanished on my xvs 400. The brake was locked on. Ive completely stripped the caliper down and cleaned it and purchased replacement pistons and rubber seals and pads. How do I fit the rubber seals into the small groves in the caliper body where the piston sits? I know I can use a c clamp to gently seat the piston but dont know about the rubbers. Moderator mervin Posted October 12, 2010 Moderator Share Posted October 12, 2010 Are you sure the grooves are really clean? and the seal is sitting in it properly, cos needing a clamp to push it in is not a good sign, try lubricating the seal and piston with some brake fluid, and make sure the piston is square as you try too push it in, it should go in by hand fairly easily, oh and try the piston in the caliper before you fit the seals jusst too make sure you have the correct one
