Moderator drewpy Posted August 22, 2010 Moderator Posted August 22, 2010 well you know how it goes. managed to talk the wife around this as a bike for my son when he is 16(in 3 years) so i got meself a gilera 50cc thingy, looks cool and will be my next project when I finish the tracker! meanwhile I can start collecting parts info etc. anyone know what model it is?
Moderator Airhead Posted August 22, 2010 Moderator Posted August 22, 2010 I like it Drewpy but you know me and my love of mopeds. It's a Gilera touring I think, as opposed to the trail version with cross braced bar, high front guard and upswept exhaust or the Enduro with its number plates and even higher upswept pipe.

Moderator Airhead Posted August 22, 2010 Moderator Posted August 22, 2010 me too http://www.wheelsofitaly.com/wiki/index.php/Gilera http://www.wheelsofitaly.com/wiki/index.php/File:Gilera_3_001.jpg I can see it's not a 'Touring moped' so it looks to be a 'Touring RS' The seat looks short though? it does have pillion pegs.
Vez Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Nice project drewpy. Don't think it will make it to squires though

Moderator drewpy Posted August 24, 2010 Author Moderator Posted August 24, 2010 pardon me for bursting your bubble,,,,but it's a shed. but good luck with the re-build anyway thats the point Kev, Its a long term project for my son for when he's 16. Already got a suppiler (bob wright)and the spares situation is really healthy
2 Wheels Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Nice find drewps, me likes it !!! looks like ya could get a bigger engine in there if ya wanted......theres plenty a room.
Moderator mervin Posted August 24, 2010 Moderator Posted August 24, 2010 Looks like a good project Drewps, the last RD i restored was worse than that, and he will have a decent bike rather than a twist and go hairdrier
Moderator drewpy Posted August 28, 2010 Author Moderator Posted August 28, 2010 done a bit more digging and have found out its an Italian import.
Moderator Airhead Posted August 28, 2010 Moderator Posted August 28, 2010 Thats the one Drewpy, only with optional extra pillion pegs for an intimate ride
up.yours Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 iff you can make it look like that,,,your lad will be real proud...................
