Hi

I have a '97 535s (17,000 miles) that is running like a pig just now. Seems very rattly - I've checked the tappets and they are within tolerances. But it is the general running that is the problem. Now, I've looked at the diaphragms and they are not at all perished/holed etc. HOWEVER - are the diaphragm rubbers supposed to be bonded to the slides? Mine are not and could easily be removed - a sort of push fit.... Is this my problem?

Thank you for any assistance you can give.

Steve

im not too sure about the 535 but i have worked on a few 125's and the carb diaphram has always been connected to the slides so assuming that the 535 is just a bigger version of the 125 then yes it is that, that is the problem.

best get some new ones and try it out (wont hurt to have a spare!) plus there known for disintegrating.
