The post is right your Yamaha agent should be able to help, If your key is like my FJR which it could be do you have a red key, I ask this because my bike has a red key that enables other keys with a chip to be re-coded, if not were you given a small rectangular dog tag with the keys (rectangle of metal about 5x15mm in size)My Divi had this tag and it had the key /lock serial number on it that would allow the yam agent to identify the key required, But as the other posts say the place to start is at Yamaha agent

i only have a black key only dont have a red one bought the bike second hand and they never said anything about a red key why cant you copy the chip out of the black key onto a new key thanks for the reply

The other option is to shop around with some Locksmiths who specialise in vehicles.

Most will be able to either read the chip details and cut/programme a new key for you, or can do it using a VAG and the key code.

They will be cheaper than Yamaha, or will offer you 2nd and 3rd spare keys in a deal that works out cheaper. That's how they maintain their business. Try and stay away from the big national companies, though - They will rip you off.

If you need help finding a good local Auto-Lockie, give me a shout.

I say auto locksmith first. Most can programe the new key from the back of their van. And they come to you.
