Posted April 11, 200915 yr hi, ive just aquired a 2004 tzr 50, the bike is unrestricted and hits an indicated 60 - 64mph, has any one got any technical details for this bike such as sizes of main jets etc, i want to put the standard air box back on as it has a cone filter, will the standard box kill it and what size jet might i need, cheers
April 11, 200915 yr its top-end and pickup will be slightly reduced but not drastically. if it already has the standard (unmodified) exhaust then you shouldn't need to rejet, however, if the exhaust has been replaced by a sports can or has had the restrictors drilled out then you will possibly need to go down a jet size but do a plug chop after you fit the standard airbox and see how you go with that

My main jet is a 94 and it is the standard carb and derestricted with standard air filter

April 12, 200915 yr hi tzr 92, what sort of speed are you getting with your set up , cheers I was getting 58 on flat and up to 65 down hill but I have not done anything to tune mine up. If you want to go faster put a larger front sprocket on the front try a 13tooth sprocket and 46-48 tooth on back. You will go faster but your bike will not accelerate as well. I have a 12 tooth sprocket on mine

Just open it up and have a look. Try adjusting the mixture screw. If that doesnt work then try raising the needle on the throttle cable that goes into the carb. Tis will richen the mixture.

April 14, 200915 yr hi tzr 92, do you know off the top of your head what postion your needle is on mine is in the centre Not sure what i should be but mine is as high as it can go because my bike is not going properly, I can go full throttle but when I put my choke on it pulls better. I need to put my choke on to make it go better. I think I must have a air leak in my crankcase. Have you checked if your main jet is clean?

Hope this helps. Alex
