Hiya Steve, Next time your looking for a bike (You`ve got the bug now),

Take time out, a deep breath, and then look, There ARE bargains out there,

I picked up a GSX400 today, £150, with Tax and MOT, a bit tatty,

But HAY-HO, i`m a dab hand with a paint can, But it ride`s superbly,

60 mile`s home, I was impressed, (mined you it`ll be in bit`s tomorrow),

So take a good look around before you buy, Or Evan wait awhile, That "bargain" may not

be a bargain after all, Good luck with the JAWA, ( I can hear it from here, Still make`s me shudder to think back).

still waiting for my "bargains"

Its not something you would see everyday on the streets, and aslong as it goes i dont really mind...

there was an FS1M on ebay a few weeks ago went for £277, i would have got that if i'd had enough money...

Just doing a quick google search, a few people have put RD350 front suspension on their Jawa bikes, so that maybe something to consider instead of getting the originals ground and re-chromed. also they have added Delorto 28mm carbs...

could put a nice new colour scheme on it aswell, maybe flip-paint, Dark green to dark blue or a fade...

saw some pics on google of a Red and white Jawa towing a little trailer! :o... is that actually legal/possible?

Aye its legal AND possible, but I expect in your case, the car and bike will be in opposite positions

lol, only real difference is that Volvo would be a Ford Capri :P

theres loads of people making little trailers specificly for bike use, just typing "Jawa trailer" into google image search and its come up with a Jawa 250 towing a "Rav" trailer

are there any guidelines for trailer dimensions or is it just limited to your bike being able to pull the trailer?

rules on trailers for bikes something like:

max length of trailer not more than 1.5m from rear wheel spindle of bike

and

max 150kg or 2/3s weight of bike, which ever is lowest.

think that is right. obviously full license only.

you go for it matey, theres nothing wrong with a jawa. the toolbox required consists of a hammer and a spark plug key, these things were made to go on forever, give it a good strip down and clean, glue it back together with blu tack and yer sorted. if nothing else it'll give you valuable experience for the future.... ;) dont sell your other bike, stick it in the back garden and throw a hap over it, nothing worse than selling your first bike and ten years down the line wishing you still had it. <_<

chances are ten years down the line i will be riding an R1 instead

Someone has just emailed me about the DT and said they are interested in buying it, i admit i will be sad to see it go though...

just giving a bit of thought to the forks on the Jawa, had a look on ebay and forks tend to be a bit pricey so its probably more worth my while going to a breakers yard and sourcing spares there

stay away from those plastic rocket R1 things get a Rd350 or 500 power valve plenty fast enough and 2 stroke you will never get the smell out of your head, characterless dentist drill speed engines are for people who want to arrive in the next world so fast they do not even see how they did it i reckon, if you are going 4 stroke get a single thumper

Love the smell of two stroke already, lol :P

only 4 stroke thumper i really like is the Honda Dominator, i would prefer something tall as im quite a lanky bugger and dont like being squashed up on a tiny bike. even that DT of mine feels a bit small when i sit on my mates Suzuki RMX50.

just had a thought... would it be possible to streetfighter a Jawa 350? :P

ooh, v nice :D.

just thinking about it now, i could add a topbox and some panniers and make the Jawa a tourer...

too good to butcher for a streetfighter project methink...

top box and panniers = ace idea. motox handguards (or 4 pint plastic milk cartons), the biggest fairing you can find, then off to The Elephant Rally :D :D :D

forks rechromed is a waste of money. anything you can jam in there will be fine

they make much better rat/survial bikes than streetfighters LOL :D just the wrong shape to start with :o
