wild foamy Posted January 13, 2009 Share Posted January 13, 2009 hi everyone. got a flat tyre today. got a new tyre coming anyway so im not bothered about the tyre. how do i repair the inner tube?, do i use an ordinary puncture repair kit like i do with my pushbike or do i need a specialist kit?. and how do you get th old tyre off?, ive already tried and stabbed myself on the sprocket so ive called it quits for tonight Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dont forget to tread on the opposite side to where you are levering to get the bead to the middle of the rim, you will need to buy a motorcycle puncture kit (or a new tube) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

wild foamy Posted January 14, 2009 Author Share Posted January 14, 2009 well i have to wait for my new bank card to come before i can register it with paypal again. so looks like im off the road for a few more days. that bike spends more time in the garage than it does on the road . will probably be selling it when im 17 (9 mnoths time) and getting me a 1.6L ford capri Laser. There is a hole, but its not massive, the walls of hole touch, if you see what i mean. Can I just change the inner tube? Or should I get a new tyre? Moderator drewpy Posted January 14, 2009 Moderator Share Posted January 14, 2009 I use the biggest tyre levers I could find, rim protectors and make sure the tyre is warm. you also need to break the bead, just standing on it should be enough. I had some old wheels and had to drive (carefully) the car over the tyres (which were old and scrap anyway) you will also need lube to slip the tyre back on. I use olive oil soap as petrolium based stuff will affect the tyre. Ryan09 Posted January 15, 2009 Share Posted January 15, 2009 I recently just bought a set of buzzetti levers, really good probs some some of the best on the market. As for the tyre change there is some videos on youtube that show you. Its not too hard if im totally honest just make sure the tyres warm before you put it back on i.e. sat in front of a radiator for couple of hours so itl be softer to get back on the rim. I have taken both wheels off because my new tyres have arrived today (yipee!) and my dad will change the tyres and patch the tube whilst i am at school during the day, so hopefully i should be on the road by saturday suppose the next bad thing that could happen would be it getting stolen...
