beppemt
Hi, I'm new to this forum and wish to tell you all hello from Malta! I'm not very technically oriented so please forgive my ignorance. Now onto my problem... When I first start the bike from cold it works like a total dream for about 2 miles. After this it begins to have problems "opening up"... It's like the bike starts hesitating and doesn't keep on accelerating through the revs up till 9000rpm like it did during the first few miles. My mechanic can't seem to figure out the problem. This is what I've changed so far to try to fix things: 1. Reed valves 2. Spark plugs 3. Intake manifolds 4. Cleaned the carburators Like I said the bike works like it was out of the factory for the first few miles then begins working horribly. Although many times the hesitation occurs when I hit 6000rpm, sometimes it also happens earlier at 3000rpm. I am totally stuck and would be very grateful if anyone had any clue to my problem. Please ask me any questions which may help you in identifying the problem. thanks!!
Moderator mervin Posted October 9, 2008 Moderator Share Posted October 9, 2008 Maybe the coil is breaking down in the heat when the engine gets hot, Have you a spare one to try? also is the tank venting properly? when the problem starts stop and open the fuel cap if you get a sudden in rush of air the cap vent is blocked, Aleks Rd site is the specialist Lc site RD lc forum merv

As Merv said, possibly many things, Tank venting one is really easy to check so do that first and another easy one is to check for good fuel supply (Blocked filters) Turn fuel off, pull off the pipe from the carb and open the tap catch the fuel in something, you should get a good flow throgh clean filters. If you tap is a vacuum one you will have to remove the vac tube from the manifold and suck on that to get the tap to work.
