Hi Everyone, Hope you are all well.
Now this may seem like a silly question, but it's something i've never had to deal with before. Can you vary the size of your tyres from the manufacturers recomended? i.e. I have a skinny rear tyre on an xj600 and want a fat one
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
JK

Hey daz
I had one of these as a first big bike, '98 xj600n. was a really good bike, mechanicaly bullet proof. not the best looks or the fastest machine on earth but plenty fast enough for someone just starting out. the only thing i would say to you when buying one is check out the link between downpipe and silencer, if thats going rotten walk away. your looking atleast £300 to replace or a shed load of bodge welding.
hope that helps

yea i will look
but i prefer doing online qoutes..
its becuase i am 18
but i nearly have 1 years ncb
I don't think nearly counts to these guy lol, you either got it or you don't
-
well i was looking at buying a fazer
my qoute was £1500..
my friend was going to sell me his kawasaki ninja zx6-r 1998 model for £1000 + it is in mint condition
i done a insurance qoute for it and it was £3500 for a years insurance..
this is for a bike that is being stored in a garage with full protection and only used as a weekend toy
oh and with a 33bhp restriction due to my age.
These qoutes are from the number 1 bennets..
can anybody offer some advice or how i can lower my insurance. its mad paying that kind of price, i have experience with 1000cc bikes with full power, bleh
help a friend ?
cheers
Blimey, I thought a grand to insure an R1 was bad, but 3500 for a zx6-r!!! thats insane (4 naans!!) I don't think there is much you can do about it other than phone around. give Adrian Flux a try

Why are all the best Dragstars Welsh?
Haha all the best things come from Wales!!!!
(Peed off after having been stopped and booked 30 minutes ago for an illegal number plate-black and white!!)AAAARRRGGGHHHHHHH This makes me so fucking angry!!!!!!! having a black and white number plate is sssooooo dangerous eh!?! While some jargon spouting prick was giving you that ticket some low life scum of the earth was probably stabbing some poor kid to death cos he wouldn't give up his lunch money! and there wouldn't be a copper in sight to stop that. Seriously! if you saw half as many police walking the streets as as you do pestering motorists then we'd be in a far better state. I was driving through christchurch the other day in a 30 limit when some moron in his psychedelic spaz wagon overtook me doing AT LEAST 40!! only to stop at flaming tesco!!! I pulled over to see what he was doing and he was buying his sodding lunch!! AAAGGGGGHHHHHH I was so angry I almost started knawing at the steering wheel!

haha nothing meant by that mate, that was one of three I found when I was buying mine. I've only had mine 6 weeks or so.
I'm suprised we can't hear each other then, mine has a bit of a bark to it.
-
It's nowt technical, just stands for society of auto engineering or somethng like that. just an industry standard i guess.
-
Ha, I'm about 10 doors away from the richmond arms, just up Richmond Pk Rd. Small world eh!
Glad you got a good deal on yr bike, it wasn't the orange/black one I saw there a while back was it?
Oh god what does he want one of those for? does he want the leather tassels and chaps to go with it? Yeah jap cruisers are much better! Either the Dragstar or the Intruder are my personal fav's.
I sure will be down there next week, if it's anything like last night then best make it there early!!
-
Get the Dragstar!!!
Bigger, Wider, Sleeker, Lower and much much Cooler!
My other half has the virago and I have a dragstar. wouldn't swap in a million years!
-
I thought that the vstar was just the american version of the dragstar and that they were both the same thing. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
-
HAHAHA Turns out they are already baffled!! MUPPIIIIIITTTTT!!!
I know for a fact the bike is loud and that it's not just me as I get ssooooo many comments about the noise. What the hell does it sound like without the baffles!!!!!!! I've got to try it one day!
Check out this Dragstar

Hey Dan,
Welcome to the site.
You must be somewhere near me if phil's is local to you! I'm in Charminster. I know what you mean, Phil's is a bit of a 'local shop for local people' if you get what I mean lol. but there are a few guys there who are friendly enough. this guys dragstar is pretty cool
http://www.motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/Custom/XVS650.html
Tells you exactly what he's put on it too which is helpfull. Other than trawling the net looking for pics all I can sugest is get down to poole quay and check out some of the xvs's down there. Don't know if you've been down there much but there's usually a fair few 1100's down there not too many 650's but a lot of the mod's are the same.

Just in front of the switch on the side stand, you'll find the oil gauge. SAE 10W/40 should do the trick just fine, make sure it's bike specific oil tho and not car oil.

Hey Rich
I got an XJ in bits at the moment giving it a respray, from what I can remember when dismantling the tank I don't think it's as simple as just undoing the allen bolts, I think the key lock actualy latches on the tank itself stopping the whole assembly being removed. I may be wrong, you may aswell try if you've got an allen key to hand, it might loosen it enough to come out with some jigery pokery but I guess the whole point of it having a lock it so you can't get in there without a key.

The oil level window is tucked away just in front of the switch at the top of the side stand. Don’t want to teach you to suck eggs but don’t read it when it’s on the side stand yeah!?

Hey
I've got "Laser" Slash cut slipo-ons on my 650 dragstar, she barks like a rottweiler in a cattery with these babies on.

17) Where did I get this firearm and does whoever gave it to me hold the appropriate licence?
18) I couldn't possibly use this firearm, I'm not sufficiently trained in the appropriate procedures and protocol.
19) Could you stop stabbing my wife please, I need more time to assess the situation and identify possible health and safety issues to try and minimalise the consequences of my actions.
20) Am I wearing enough high vis?
21) Sorry, there's nothing we can do.

I don't get it, 5000 degrees c? how does that not melt whatever you put in it; the cleaner itself; your workbench; you; your workshop??
Buy hey, i'm no physicist so i probably shouldn't ask as I won't understand the answer lol D'uh
Are these the things they have at the dentist to put all there tools in to clean them? They must work if they are, but then again grimey engine grease is prob a little more stuburn than plaque & tartar. Anyway i'll shut up now cos I dunno what i'm talking about

"Harley lover"? If I want an overpriced boat anchor and had more money than sense I'd waste it on a Hardly. But you are bashing a Yamaha (Raider) on a Yamaha forum I just wish I could afford a Raider.
One other thing that Harley hates to hear about. HD sold about 50,000 units in 2006. Honda sold 1.2 million Shadows that same year. Smart riders go metric.
Egg on my face!! I assumed it was HD
Only available in America!! What the f**k is that all about!? Keep your boat anchors, we want that!

AHAHAHA!!!!!
Sorry can't help, just wanted to laugh at the title
Hope you sort your tranny prob out soon matey
Fat tyres???

So am i right in thinking that doesn't neccessarily mean that the tyre on the rim is the widest possible for that sized rim?
