Hiya All, I picked up my new R6 on 1st March 2008 and despite being told by the dealer to break the engine in for 600 miles and then a further 400 after the initial oil change, everyone i speak to says you dont need to! Does anyone have any advice about this or expert knowledge? Thanks. Dan

I picked my 2008 R6 up on 1st March and am still running it in; however, having changed from a 2000 GSXR 600 i can tell you that you made the right decision! The R6 goes well and handles even better! I am not the most confident rider when it comes to bends, but you really can trust this bike to take you round. A slight movement of the hips and she just leans over and takes you round! All i would say, is that this bike will KILL you if you dont treat it with respect! It is a monster in comparison to my 2000 GSXR, which was quick enough for a new rider! So, go steady but enjoy it. Go slowly and you will get more looks from jealous bikers and frustrated pedestrians! Go quick and you will overtake everything capable of travelling on tarmac...but being a new rider you will probably die! Enjoy!

Hello All! I have just joined and thought it would be good to introduce myself! I picked up my brand new R6 on 1st March and have fallen completely in love with it! I am still running it in, but already know how much better it is than the Gixxer i had before! This is my second bike and it is crazy!!! I am keen to get involved in meetings and know of a great one in Didcott, Oxon if anyone fancies joining me for that in the Summer?!?! Anyway, i am here now so i hope to meet you at some point whilst i browse the forum! Dan
