carb icing?
in Naked
Yes do be careful about this. kawasakis did tend to have problems with carb icing which led to the death of someone and accidents to others. If you have air filters in, it should not happen, but it is part of the function of the carb venturi that causes the problem. If you have water in your fuel it is more likely to happen.yes i totaly agree with that,
remove the float bowls and check for bubbles in the petrol this is water, and can cause these symptoms.
However Carb icing is also a possiblity, so be very careful when riding.
Let us know how it goes.

Welcome to the forum.
Is the oil you were using fully sythntic then?
I would keep using it.
the semi - sythetic oil is for transfering engines from mineral oil to sythetic modern oils. or slightly older bikes.
AS long as its bike oil, car oil has additives that make it really slippery, and on a bike that can cause clutch slip.
Also with it being a new ish bike, it needs to be newer type of oil with an API rating of SG or later like SJ becasue of its additives will help modern bike engines.

hi guy's this is my first post, so Hello everyone nice to meet you all.
Im interested in buying a yamaha FZR 1000 exup genesis 1989 / 90 model.
Its done 15k miles, and is in good ish condition.
Is this bike reliable? - will it start if I dont use it for a week.
I've ridden it already and the power is amazing.
Its good on insurance for me because its an old bike.
Do they have any known major faults?
or anything i should look out for in particular (im a trainee mechanic)
FZR fork conversion or spring upgrade

Hey guys
I've got an FZR600r 1994 model.
The fork seals need replacing, but it looks like the stanchions are clean so I think the seals are just perished. So I'm considering keeping the forks and replacing the springs with progressive items.
Or
Alternatively fit another pair of forks that are a bit more modern.
Is there a table of what other front ends fit the FZR600? and what should I look for as a modern replacement, early R6 forks perhaps?
