right im sick of this now. those of you who have read my posts before may have noticed i always post up stuff abotu tyres and when i get a new set. well heres another bitch...
im on my 3rd rear in a year, had a dunlop 208rr set, great!
michelin pilot sport front excellent, rear bag of shit, pissed through it in 3000 miles, this is getting expensive
bridgestone bt020 rear got it in feb, got a fucking puncture! and the michelin front needs replacing so going for bridgestone pair. with softer compound on the front, also my bike has a 16 inch front wheel because honda like ot be difficult (although thats what teh gp bikes use haha )
but seriously i hate tyres, they dont last long, there expensive and they get holes in. im sick of it now. and my car isn't much better at it either!!
i will post back when i sort this but this is the one thing that really does annoy me about bikes and cars is tyres!! if you hadnt noticed!
Hey if ya ride fast and slow down fast;that s the price your gonna have to pay.If ya ride like a grand-ma then you ll save money.Quit bitchin,i own a ninja and have the same problems.C ya on the road.

When People Point ....
My Black R6 generates much pointing and visual admiration
as I pass by people on the street, in their cars, on the bus ....
What's the coolest, least arrogant response to admirers like them?
Nod, rev it, thumbs up, floor it, wheelie, ignore them.... ?
How do you respond?
Hey,. yea i have a black ninja zx12r and i have a lot of pointers and lookers too but i just nod dude...keep your hands on the bars its the way they like it too.

Yup i did this the other day with my big single 4 stroke and the zorsts where glowing. at the end of the day if it is an aircooled engine it kinda relies on the bike moving to get air flowing through the fins to cool the motor. and the engine is heating the air around it all the time, same goes with 2 strokes i seized my RD 250 once standing outside the shed trying to sort the carburation

its my understanding that you should only use the choke until the bike will run smoothly without it. My haynes manual says that running the engine too rich can cause the exhaust to overheat and discolor over time (it will eventually look like someone took a torch to it, with blue/purple rings of heat where the metal has been stressed).
im not sure if its the same on the newer bikes, but i basically just start mine up, and get moving in under a minute. once ive gone about a quarter mile i shut the choke off, and run it in a lower gear so that the engine warms up faster without relying on the choke.
good luck.

Performance bikes do get quite warm. Your exhaust wont fall off so I wouldn't worry about it, just don't leave it sitting around for so long.

Afternoon all
Had a quick look and there seems to be a few people introducing themselves so thought I might aswell do the same!!!
New to biking - passed my test in August and have a 2000 plate FZS600 Fazer. Very happy with the bike and looking forward to going to the motorbike show to see what Yamaha have on show!! Can't afford another one yet though.
Really enjoying biking. Even on my CBT I realised why so many people love it. Had a couple of scary moments since I passed my test and after having numerous cars thinking they can get out of that junction first, have invested in a fluorescent bib!! Every little helps!
Always brings a smile when bikers acknoweldge each other although there are a few who ride straight past. If I see any of you out on the roads - you'll always get a wave!!!
Anyway, I will be on this forum for most of my lunch breaks in work so I look forward to picking up some tips and anyone setting up a ride out in South Wales somewhere!
Bye for now

I started up my WR 450/2003 today and I had to use the choke to keep it running for about 5 minutes. The exhaust turned cherry red, looked like my bike was going to explode. What am I doing wrong?
Any ideas? Thanks!
