  1. what do you mean vacuum disaster? as long as your float bowl needles and floats are good, your fuel "shuts" off.
  2. i'm running a little lean. bluing on the pipes. I can't remember which way to move the screws. screw in - less air? screw out - more air?

  4. seat cover is in greeat shape (no cowl) best offer speedo 11,549 miles/ plus chrome shell best offer front forks that need new seals some pitting near triple tree mounting area best offer usable right side cover, one tab has a crack but its still all there(super glue maybe) should be primed and painted best offer wiring loom best offer CDI best offer coil best offer
  5. ok, checked the stator this afternoon. charging coil red to brown read 5ohms: good brown to black read nothing: not good pulser coil wht/green to black read 87 ohms: good wht/red to black read 16 ohms: good now what?

  7. my problem is the vacume doesn't work the way it should. no fuel should be coming down the fuel line to the carbs when the engine isn't running. you should check your float bowls.
  8. not yet. the bike only has 5900 miles on it and i rebuilt the petcock, there should not be a problem.
  9. ok i'm at my wits end. new spark plug, no spark new coil, no spark new CDI, no spark new wiring harness, no spark battery is getting juice so it's not the stater. if the battery is low will i not get a spark? ingnition? kill switch? pulsar coil? rectifier? is there a ground connection i'm not seeing? i followed the clymer manual. and the manual says to check the head bolts??? please, anyone, it been 2 months.
  10. yes, free fuel flow. the bottom gasket can only go in one way. done. the round four holed gasket behind the lever is the the same both sides. done. the vacume gasket, little hole in the membrane lined up with the little hole in the plastic plate. spring is against the back of the cover. o ring facing through "tunnel" to lever side. done. ????

  12. no, the fuel line. i set it to on and it leaks. i set it to res and it leaks. half way between them both and it leaks.
  13. what tire sizes should i get? 18" 3.00 front 18" 3.75 rear so what does that break down to? 18" 100 front? 18" 120 rear?
  14. my petcock was leaking, so rebuilt i rebuilt it. all new gaskets and vacume still leaking on and res settings.
  15. what size is the headlight to the XS400 2E? 5 3/4"? i know its not 7" i want to buy a sealed halogen replacement for it. i like seeing where i'm going.
  16. what about the spacing for the inlets? i've heard the exhuast between the two is interchangable as well. can anyone confirm that?
  17. I can start the bike without a problem. The thing of it is, the throttle sometimes has no effect. Sometimes the RPMs go up and some times they don't move at all. I noticed the right side is running leaner that the left just by how fast it heats up. The Carburetor boots are cracked and I’ve ordered new ones. The slides and cable move. But with no effect on RPMS. It seems to idle fine. So I’m thinking carburetor rebuilds and new carburetor boots should remedy the situation. Anyone else run into this before?
  18. i've been looking and didn't see any front brake shoes availbile, but i'll give these guys a try.
