  1. Hello jgcable & welcome. From experience i can tell you that these engines can fit into a xj550 frame as well (i had one). Personally i like these engines coz they're so easy to work on & can take a fair amount of abuse ( i once crashed & put a whole in the head of one & it still ran, ok it only did 200yards to the litre of oil but it still ran, lol).

  2. Sounds to me like your sidestand switch is working perfectly!! It's there to make sure you don't ride off with the sidestand down, as in if you do the engine cuts out. You may have the idle speed down too low & not a problem with the camchain, if camchain the noise would get worse on acceleration. If it don't start with the clutch pulled in you may need to replace the clutch switch (take off the lever & you'll see what looks like a brake light switch behind it. They do wear out). If that switch has been removed, you may need to bypass it (or replace it) to enable starting, locate the wires & put in a wire to connect the 2.

  3. HA- ----- Brill ...but coming from somrbody that hasna filled in his AGE on profile [ grizz] cud be a case

    Of"

    Kettle > [ not GT 750] >>Pot<<[ as in Crackpot .>> drewpy] :D &<< Black>>[ not as in Hat250]

And drewpy & O.Git.O.A.B. bound to be falling into that categorie :lol:

Could be at 45 I'm getting close but I know when I first saw it I couldn't get of the floor because of laughter not arthritis (as the ex that sent it to me reckons, lol).

  4. Start as you mean to go on mate! If you think Liverpool is too far to ride then you've knackered yourself b4 you've started. You could always do a couple of camps in Wales going to Holyhead or Fishguard and adjust your format accordingly (like coming back to Liverpool). Then RIDING HOME!

  5. News flash mate!

The flu jab gives you the flu! What kind of you suffer with may not be covered by the flu you have been "protected against"! I say this coz i know people that were 60/65 before getting this jab & never had a problem with flu in their lifetime, all had flu afterwards & God rest their souls a few died coz of it. I also now a few people that refuse point blank to have it & they're fitter than me (much to my shame being 45) at the tender age of 82.

But hey, what do I know.

  6. Thanks for all the advice

To be fair i havent been riding for long, since 30th september ( so about a month). My step-dad suggested that i should wait 2 months before doing my test, so its long enough to 'hone' my skills, but not so long that i develop bad habits. Either way, i have bokked 4 days of training in january to see what kind of standard i ride to and see if its worth booking my practical. Already passed my theory, did that before my CBT.

    Thanks Again

    Alex

Do the training in january & find out if they think you're good enough to pass the test. By the time you get a test date you're looking at 5 months between cbt & part 2 (should make your step-dad happy) that way you will have a good idea if you will or won't pass the test.

  7. Obviously not! Don't get me wrong when I ask, BUT!!!!!!!

How long have you bin with girlfriend & is there a jealous EX?

Is that area renown for this kind of thing?

Are you a security guard of sorts (night shift etc) & is there a place you could've parked the bike that was safer (under a company cctv camera)?

Just wondering (not saying that it's right! Coz if it happened to me, I'd be looking for blood.), coz you may have bin able to stop this situation.

Right P.C hat off!!! I hope you catch the B'stards & cut their kin bollox off!!!

If you need an alibi, you was in london with a few mates (ok)!

  8. And so xmas begins.

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

'In honor of this holy season' Saint Peter said, 'You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.'

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. 'It represents a candle', he said.

'You may pass through the pearly gates' Saint Peter said.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, 'They're bells.'

Saint Peter said 'You may pass through the pearly gates'.

The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women's panties.

St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, 'And just what do those symbolize?'

The man replied, 'These are Carols.'

    And So The Christmas Season

    Begins......

  9. A little ditty for all pasta lovers.

A man was having an affair with an Italian woman for several years. One night, during one of the rendevous, she confided in him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he offered to pay her a large sum of money if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child. If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18. She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discreet he told her to simply mail him a post card and write “Spaghetti” on the back, he would then arrange for the child support payments to begin. One day about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife. ”Honey” she said “you received a very strange post card today”. “Oh, just give it to me and I’ll explain it later” he said. The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white and fainted.

    On the card was written:

“Spaghetti! Spaghetti! Spaghetti! two with meatballs, one without”.

  10. Most of the xj550/600 (known as fj600 in England), radian & fz600 models had the same configuration engines so would interfit most parts. I have an aftermarket micron exhaust on my fz but you'd have to check with manufacturers to find out if they still make parts for this age of bike.
