My 07 FZ6 vibrates quite badly between 6800 and 7500 rpm once above or below this everything is fine.
My local Yamy shop said to either fit a steering damper (expensive option) or a different set of grips (which i have gone for) it helps quite a bit but doesnt make it disappear completely
The guy at the shop said that it is a resonating frequency between the engine and the bars
hi, i ride a 2005 fz6, yes it does vibrate a bit between 6&8rpm but goes away. they all do it, and has no cause 4 concern. as 4 fitting a steering damper????????????? were is that coming from. ur dealer must be a right muppet. i certainly wouldnt be leaving my bike in 2 him damper is 2 stop front end shaking its head at high speed :rolleyes:so how a damper would solve vibration prob is way beyond me. i doubt if grips would make any difference either

hi its the paper work you are paying for, shop has to fit them and stamp certificate, ins company asks for certificate. otherwise they will not insure it. re dyno, i think you are wasting money £200 seems a bit much, my son was charged £130. shop around.Hi guys, I've just bought my dads XS400SE 1981 ( he's just got the 650 version) anyway i want to get it on the road but i'm restricted to the 33bhp license. My local bike shops want to charge me 200 quid for the privelige of a couple of washers in the intake manifold to restrict it. Well i want to make my own up as I'm not gonna pay £200 for a pair of washers!! Could anyone help me with how much of an opening should be left in the washer??I've attempted to make a few up and ill post a picture, any comments welcome.
Also does anyone know of a dyno in cornwall where i can go to get it tested??
Cheers, Rich

Doesn't matter what bike you ride DL....in fact a lot of the people with the best bikes are sad wankers trying to "belong".
It's what you feel about bikes that matters.
You get more respect from Oldschool for riding your type of bike than if you'd just got yourself the latest colour coordinated race rep bullshit! 8)
well zd m8, i agree

erm, hate 2 tell you this, but the 2004 fz6 is fuel injectedMy Fazer is the same, but only in the cold.It is a known problem where the heating pipes around the carbs fur up and no longer warms them up.
Mines starts fine in the morning, by the first set of traffic lights she is getting lumpy, then by the time I'm in work she cuts out and I'm coasting the last bit. Leave it for a bit and if she wont start, change the plugs and we're away.
The way round it is to change the freezing point of the petrol, add 200ml, per tank full of petrol of Silkolene Pro FST.
This will sort it out if it is that......
Found this tip last year on a Ducati forum as they suffer aswell

HI, I am thinking about buying a Yamaha FZ6 05 plate bike, and was wondering how easy they are to self-service please? Any info, hints and tips from those who have serviced this bike themselves would be appreciated.
hi, i own a 05fz6. fairly easy 2 service, plugs fiddly(half n hour) part from that. weee buns

Can you fit crash bungs to a Fazer 600 S2? There doesn't seem to be a place to mount them, as the frame ends halfway down, then the motor hangs from there (if that makes sense).
Jon.
loads of them on e.bay. s2 frame same as my 2005 fz6. they mount on 2 engine mount, 5 mins fits them

Hey guys.
I just picked up a 2006 FZ6 with 527 miles on it for 4500$. Does anyone happen to know what sizes wrench I need for the oil plug and the filter cap?? Its not a size I have and I live in the sticks so I have to drive over an hour to get more tools. Also, if anyone has an advice on the oil change Id appreciate it! I'm new to the sport world, ive been driving an old kawasaki 1981 550 for the past couple years.
oooohh.. and i almost forgot. the clucth has about 1/4 inch play in it. when you pull the clutch in it goes just a little bit before it meets resistence. Should I have any concern with this??
Thanks guys,
Austin
you need a 17mm socket
I want an EZ way to tell a 74 RD 250 from A RD350
