  1. you dont have to be a certain age cus they offered it to me and i'm only 17 and its my first bike, but its only third party so i thought why bother

yes when i was 17 they offered me free insurance on my DTX 125 but i took the 0% instead cos it was only TP

i then rang up the company that was doing the free insurance for a qupte and they said they were doing deals with yamaha for this so they'd give me a discount so i insured mine fully comp really cheap

  2. Bloody Hell! Over here you cant ride an R6 until your 21 anyway, so wont be able to compare directly. But I'm 22 (single guy like you) riding a FZ6 Fazer S2. My first years insurance was £700 fully comp and this years is going to be £400 fully comp. (Annual rates)

WOW! Ive just got a quote for a R6 to compare and its only £600 a year fully comp, hmmm maybe time for a new bike!

    yamaha FZ6 2006 530 quid TPF&T 18 years old single

had a quote on my dads FZ1 550 quid WTF??

  3. my dad got done in bristol a few months ago in his van, 36 in a 30... had to pay £60 and went to a "SpeedChoice" thing so he can sit in a room for a few hours being told how naughty he was, but managed to get out of the 3 points

i think this is a really good idea..

i know its a pain in the arse but its better than 3 points in my opinion

i wouldn't mind having to pay a bigger fine if it ment no points...

i think there should be a choice

150 quid fine or 60 quid and 3 points

i know which i'd go for

  4. i cut off that stupid mudguard at the bcak and tidied it up will leace a picture soon,,

if your looking for plastics could just use a yam dealer but will cost you

try ebay but if they second hand will not be as clean (typically.. maybe an exeption)

i had trouble finding any different graphics for my DTX but found a supplier on ebay

  5. yeah i just read a few reviews about chinese bikes and they say that most the bolts come loose and bits fall off. I'm going to have a look on ebay and see if i can pick up a spares or repairs bike but a genuine one and then fix it using 2nd hand parts.

if its just for field wouldn't it be easier to buy a second hand jap bike ??

a DTR or YZ should be fine and loads of places do spares etc

  7. hi

i've got a 2006 FZ6 not has it long only a couple of weeks.

the battery went flat and i've been having to bump start it, i charged the battery and it started, went for a 60ish mile run, pulled up for a quick cuppa and then wouldn't start again.

i'm guessing it may be the alternator or something affecting it being charged when running,

also at low revs - 3-4RPM, it is missing slightly when slowing down, this is really annoying as you only really slow down in these sort of rev's when in traffic,

any ideas... its booked in for a check at the shop i bought it from just seeing if anyone knows what this could be so i could give them a heads up

also the engine managment light flashed on the off but didn't effect how it ran and wasn't even on a second

    cheers guys

  8. Hi,

    I would guess it's a grey area !

Ask the Question who would own a 35 tonner for personal use ?

I would guess a Steam Rally bod or rather large motor home and/or horse box as I would guess you wouldn't run the 35 tonner down to Tescos for the weekly shop ! which then leaves the hire & reward bit .... how do you define professional ? if someone gives you a tenner & pays the fuel to move their horse that becomes Hire & Reward (CPC needed) But the original comment was If this system was filtered down to other vehicles (Bikes & Cars) what would happen ? Would loads of drivers & Riders give up simply because of the cost obtaining the CPC.

    Regards Jim

if it did come down to classes A and B wouldn't it still count as proffesional drivers for example couriers and taxi drivers??

  9. 90mph haha dont think so my 660c does 110mph tops so ure almost asking the imposible unles u want to do big bore kits and bigger carb messing with the gearing

u will be lucky to get 80mph and thats geting sports exhaust replaceing the air filter uping the jet sizes in the long run its not worth the hastle you might as well do ure full license and get a biger bike like i did

sorry to burst ure bubble but to get 70mph out of it aint bad at all

    i had a '57 plate DTX before the FZ6

mine was clocked at 98 using a sat nav (speedo only does 85) and this was with a passenger

and that was only with DEP exaust, move the YPVS round so its more top end power, and moved up from a 16 to 17 tooth front sprocket,

it would still wheelie in first second and third and i raced a WRX impretza and it wasn't gaining till i reached 65,

i also tried a NOS kit my dads mate borrowed me :) that would wheelie in fifth but it over heated oops

i used DTR.net or something like that and it mentioned loads of stuff like carb restrictors and a white tube behind the speedo but mine had non of this

    hope this helps

i know the last models 2007 aren't has heavily restricted as the slightly older ones

  10. this is only if you drive proffesionly

if you own your own 35 tonne wagon and use it for personal purposes it doesn't affect you

  11. that information was copied from the dvla site it is correct and applies to any new driver witin there first two years if you reach 6 points you will have to sit a re test theory test and all the other bits that go with it,if the offence is commited on a bike then the re test will be on a bike, but if both your car and bike test are less than two yearsold then it is up to the local traffic commisioner to decide if you have to take both, reaching six points in your first two years doesnt mean you will also get a ban but a re test is mandotory.

a lot of people think if they get a ban on there bike licence ah well ! i will just have to use the car ,think again the ban is on your driving licence not the entitlement, so if you get banned from driving for six months thats it

from the DVLA site it suggests 2 years from passing your first test..

i.e. if you passed yuor car test 3 years ago but your bike one it goes by how long yuo've had your car license and you would get a ban but no re-sit

  12. well done stay safe

    great feeling aint it

i've had a full license since i was 17 but still waiting till its a true full license not restricted

i rode a mt-03 and loved it but needed something with more than one cylinder for those long trips

  13. Bar End Mirrors !!!!

    i agree

i got some bar end mirrors off ebay although onlt fitted one to the right side as it used for pulling out plus with 2 it made it hard to get it through the gate at the side of the house

  14. Thanks for the info, sorry about late replies had to work away in scotland!!!! I have managed to find some scorpion cans for £200 so just saving my pennies. I wanted a white one at first but my dealer could not get anymore but i love the stealthy black on matt black look now!

were are these from most of the exausts i've seen are at least 300 quid cheers

hi just joined i have just got a lazer x-treme exhaust has 4 pipes and sounds very nice . i have done a lot of mods to my bike. and they are very nick bikes to ride i love them

were was this from and how much cheers

  15. Hi bud,

Mine is restricted by a throttle valve limiter of some sort. The actual kit is German in origin judging by the paperwork which accompanied the bike after the work was done last month. I'm not really technically minded but I think it may be a restriction on the travel of the throttle cable??

i thought it mite be that becos the throttle seems quite 'short' so to speek

only really an eighth of a turn and its fully open

  16. Not just the ECU and cams,,, so is the compresion ratio, also the fuel injection system and the gearbox ratio`s and prob more !! I don`t think there is very much that you can swop between the two bikes.

Remember, if you take the restrictors off, then you will not be covered by your insurance.

the ristrictor kit is only needed for another 6 months so i'll be leaving it on till its legal to remove it

i thought with it being the same engine as the 2003 R6 some bits would be interchangable??
