hi guys well i've got a 99 r6 as my first bike !!

but since i've had it i've been havin problems the bike has done 20 thousand on the clock and i have no service history with it.

first of all when riding its ok but the problem i'm havin is when i pull up to juctions or ride at low revs it will cut out and sometimes as you pull away it will struggle really bad like its wants to cut out then come to life... quite scary sometimes.

as for the good or bad deal took it to a local yamaha dealer they told me it was the throttle position sensor was faulty

they have changed that... and the bike still has the problem so now they said its the vavle stems seals have worn and need doin so i don't burn them out.

so just want to know are they takin me for a ride to get more money or could this be right.

any help will be appricatied

Hello out there, I'm hoping sombody can help me. I have recently purchased a new r6 on an 07 plate but it is an 06 model, before the stubby. Can a stubby be fitted to the 06 model and if it can what would you advise to be the best exhaust for the job. Cheers

does anyone have the silver and matt black version, if so just wondering what cleaning product etc you use on the matt black bits of fairing as i dont want to put something on to find out it has marked it ,

also i have noticed a tappety rattle when i rev the throttle, wondering if this is just a characteristic of the bike or i have something starting to go wrong, i only noticed it tonight whilst riding home, i usually wear ear plugs but didnt tonight, maybe its always done it but i havent heard it because of the lug plugs?

any info appreciated,

r6 and r1 have had problems with the exup valves, and they will make a rattle noise, many have tore the engine down to the crank looking for a main or rod bearing problem, or a valve tapping a piston, but usually is not the problem, when the bike runs strong, it is probally the exup valve in the exhaust, this is a valve that opens/closes for proper back pressure, rattle will probally be noticed more a low rpms, or idle, while the valve is sopposed to be closed, anyways just put a pry bar on the exhaust where the 4 goes into one apply a little pressure and see if noise stops, if so its your exup valve. you do have oil in the bike right? you should not have any rattle noise on a bike this new. hope this helps you, rember push right lean right go right. now get out there and break some speed limits.

anyone have any knowledge with porting and poslishing head on 2000 r1, is it worth the expense, how much horsepower can i expect to gain? any got any suggestions, thanks,
