  1. I looked through the Search section and didn't see any topics on this.. So, has anyone tried adding a starter to a kick start only XS360 ?.
  2. OK,, I bought new Carb. Joints for an XS400 and they fit my XS360 perfectly !!!.. drewpy was a help on this..So different part numbers doesn't always mean different type part...
  3. OK,, I bought new Carb. Joints for an XS400 and they fit my XS360 perfectly !!!.. drewpy was a help on this..So different part numbers doesn't always mean different type part... I'm not sure how two posts showed up ???, I tried tp delete one but - no luck...
  4. Got it,, Thanks. I'll see how these measure up..( Find my Metric ruler )
  5. Drewpy,, Again, Thank you very much !!. Those measurements would sure help if it's not a lot of trouble. I bought the XS400 set and I'll know in a few days when they arrive. The Gent said if they don't fit I can send them back wich was extremely nice of him.. I thought there might be a difference in diameter or bolt hole placement. Hope I luck out. Many Thanks Pard !!!
  6. My XS360...Well, I can't seem to find any new oem or good used carb. joints, intake manifolds or carb. holders. All the same thing, don't know why so many names.... I'm either going to try patching these up,,or,,buy some new ones on e-bay for the XS400. Different p/n's. Any one of you Yamaha gurus think it's worth a chance ?. There is sure no way for me to compare or ask around here. Many thanks for the past help !!!!
  7. Did you ever find any front brake shoes ??..
  8. sophicman,, My last reply went hither ??. Those caps-boots, screw on to the spark plug wire. Clean the small screw and wire core good, removes oxidation for better contact .. I'm a green horn myself
  9. Hello sophicman,, I have a 77 XS360 and just went thru replacing my coils. With the help of drewpy, I found a new pair on e-bay UK. A little pricy but it's what I wanted. There is a pair on e-bay U.S. now, not new but very nice condition. They are the same kind as the ones I bought, Grey housing and with replaceable wires (like your car coil). Mounting bolt distance are the same as old ones..Best of luck !!!
  10. Thanks drewpy. It sounded like a dumb question but It appeared like the metal portion of the manifolds are coated with some sort of black material. My thought was maybe it is only the black stuff that is cracking and the manifolds are ok. I'll take them of as soon as I get time and give them a good look see. I've had good luck getting new OEM parts from Yamaha Parts Direct.
  11. I have very small cracks in the intake manifolds on my XS360. It looks like a black coating on the manifolds that is cracked and continue out to the portion that is covered by the clamps.. Do the manifolds need replacing ??. Thanks again

    My '76 XS360

It is a small white cog-sprocket looking gizmo, plastic probably, called the Throttle Stop Screw under and to the rear of the gas tank, at the seat junction. Kind of hard to get to but I adjust mine from the right side. Use a long screw driver if you can't reach it with the fingers. Turn it IN to increase idle, OUT to slow the idle. Mine is a 77 XS360 so I'm sure it is the same.
  13. They have them for the 77 XS360, maybe the same shoes for the XS400 ??
  14. I've bought quite a bit of new OEM parts for my XS360 from Yamaha Parts-Direct..
  15. Stay between the low and top lines. Don't over fill. Put a good charge on it and you'll be fine...
  16. I temporarily replaced the gas hose from the petcock to the carb, as some one else had suggested with clear hose. I am definitely getting gas to the carb. So,, can it still be the petcock ?. I have a Clymers manual and Yamaha shop manual for the XS360. Neither one says much at all about the petcock operation . Can it still be the diaphram ?. I suspect that vacuum from the cylinders have some thing to do with it ?. Still have the dry plugs and good start with starting fluid. The petcock rebuild kit is on the way..
  17. OK, I fixed the thing,,, The housing was stretched about 1/4 inch, maybe a bit more. The bayonet tip wasn't inserting far enough to make up with the drive assembly in the hub. I pulled the cable out and pushed an 8d box nail down in the in the housing, rapped on the end of the fitting with a plastic hammer untill I got it compressed back to the correct length. The 8d nail kept it from distorting the inner housing. Any way, it spins nicely. I thought of doing that when my eyeballs popped open at 3:30 AM , my brain lightbulb came on, aha!!
  18. Does any one else have a Yamaha XS360-2D ?.. The speedometer cable is what I need info on. The one one my 360 has a threaded collar that goes to the speedo. The other end has a push in bushing affair with an o ring. Pushes in and secured by a clip. The Yamaha Parts manuel shows that type of cable as being the Tachometer cable and the speedo cable having a threaded collar fitting on both ends. I need a new speedometer cable but want to make sure I'll get the correct part..
  19. Thanks Andy, I found a rebuild kit on E-Bay. Man if it wasn't for good old E-Bay I'd be up the creek !!! I've ordered a few OEM parts from Yamaha Direct but the shipping is very slow.. I don't know if I'll get this Whiz-Bang running the way I want it before snow flies.
  20. That sounds like a good place to start, I'll try to locate the parts, maybe a rebuild kit if available. I've seen them for the XS400 but not the 360. Thanks for the help. I would have answered earlier but I was locked out of the forums, couldn't log in, didn't recognize who I was & etc.. Second time it's happened.. I was getting a bit concerned because this forum has been a big help to me..Thanks to fellows like you..
  21. Back to my hard start when cold poser !!. When I kick the crank a dozen times with choke on, and no start, and I pull the plugs, shouldn't they be wet ?. They are bone dry .. When the plugs are out, I shoot starter fluid in the plug hole , put the plugs back in and it will start easily. So now I look to the petcock, fuel filter and still maybe compression ?..
  22. The Hotspots look pretty good., but just found out my audio is down on my puter. I'll get it squared away and let you know what I think. Brings to mind tho, I think it was The good man Winnie that said we are first cousins separated by a common language. I also posted another question on my hard start problem. Thank you for your help..
  23. OK, Thanks !!...drewpy, I gotta ask- what in the heck is Chippy Tea !!
  24. In the anticipation of getting new coils with no wires for my XS360, can I make some up like you do for a car ?. These are molded coils. Merci, Danka, Dozo, Gracias, Thanks Mate. !!!
  25. You are a good man to have around drewpy !!!. A great help.. Looks good if I can get them, but had to request how much the shipping would be before I bid.. Seeing as how George Dubious has run the dollar into the ditch..The guy is a real
