  1. Your going to lay it over so get some crash protection.

I've got some crash bungs, but they've been put alot lower that i would expect, the previous owner didn't want to damage the body work

  2. I'm afraid i have a terrible affliction where i'm never satisfied with anything, however with my R6 rather than chop it in for the latest and greatest and take a hit on trade in/new price, i'm going to try a different route. Keep the bike and add some sensible mods. I've only been riding for 6 months, its a raven black '05 R6 on a 06 plate with 3000 miles and the bike is so much better than me, the power is more than enough. Next year i want to start doing track days and probably will only be riding on the road at weekends etc, what would some sensible modifications be, the bike is totally standard. I know the best mod is training for myself which i will be doing anyway, Superbike School etc. I just fancy throwing some money at it, i'm thinking carbon end can, ohlin steering damper and perhaps change the OE tyres if people think thats a good idea. Thanks

  3. hey there again, i'm not having much luck with getting an engine for my 1998 thundercat  but i'm seeing lots of R6, R1 and thunderace lumps around! Does anyone know if any of these engines will fit in my baby??? or has anyone converted there bike to a bigger engine and could give me some advice on who what and were, or if indeed it is a real pig of a job and if i'd be better to take this oppertunity to buy a new bike, i'd be grateful on some tips. I'd rather keep her but i'm stuck on what to do  !!!! I just wanna get out and ride!!! please help lol !!!

    I read that title as 'What tits',very disapointed, i'm off ! ;)

  4. Just E-Mailed them to see if they were uk spec helmets or snell and they are uk spec, but they said there is no chance of getting the new haga rep!

Not sure why but nevermind....................back to teh drawing board!!!

    <_<<_<<_<:angry::angry::angry:<_<<_<<_<

Whats the point of advertising it then.......

  5. scorpian all the way mate. the sound is incredible and will backfire and burble all day long liek abeast. as well as having a sort of two tone sound. quite throaty during low revs and then hits a certain point and sounds like nothing you ever hear, liek a jet taking off. sounds brilliant i love mine!! finsih and lifetime warranty quality are second to none!!!

I got excited just reading that ! The other ones bloody expensive too!

  6. The yamaha racing screen double bubble is the one to go for, It's angles fit with the bike.

Look at the lonk it, shows the screen but shows clear with silver ptint rather than the racing logo one which is black print.

    Oooh i like that!, :o

Does anyone know about these two cans, i like the little stubby look.

  7. ahhhh thats what it is?!?!? I didnt think that looked like a tax disc holder at all!!!! What are the 2 12v wires coming from the holder then????

As for the can mines the race can and cost me £190 on ebay ex p+p so i'd expect to pay a bit more as its got the removeable baffle and is stamped.

Definately go for akrapovic if youve got the money as i was worried but would never look back on the purchase!

    :D

We'll thats turned me into the stereo typical Essex boy.

I'll offer £200 then if that sounds about right

  8. Nice looking bike. Regarding the screen, out of all the one's I've seen the Yamaha racing screen with is the one I'd go for, it doesn't look tatty like some screen do.

Want's a Oval Carbon can sticking on it as well, that'll make a heck of a diference to it's looks.

Defiantely needs a black can then it'll look the nuts! Can anyone recommend one?

I'll have a look at the screen, maybe with a black tint to it if available.

Also regarding the trackdays i've decided to book up a day at Silverstone with the California Superbike School before i go on one

  9. I would worry more about the time if the bike has sat still for a long time but it should still be shown to have had a service at 3100miles regardless of mileage or time!!!!!

I noticed that the mini indicators had been fitted so i guess its a new one of them for you then!!!

Screens are readily avaliable on Ebay alternatively get a yamaha racing double bubble one from any yamaha dealer brand new for £70!

Has the back end got a tail tidy on then to cope with the smaller indicators???

Just interested to see if it had what it looked like!

That seems like the higher end of the price to pay for one as a new R6 is about £7500 from memory but very true, lets not dwell on the small things, just worry about getting out on it and giving it a bit of stick!!!!

    :D

To be honest mate the guy said it had a tail tidy whether it has or not i wouldn't know! Here's a picture of the back, it had a service at 400 miles

Just been looking at trackdays, fancy the Brands Hatch GP circuit, done it a few times in the car, 9th August, should be a bit less wobbly by then :D Should be able to give it some stick in a controlled environment, 3 sessions so i can get myself in the novice group!

  10. Its easy to caught out with the new bike buying exprience see so many people that try to come in and buy a bike because they have just passed there test and see the first bike that falls into there price bracket and must have it..

The dealer should of tidyed up the rear bit slap dash if held together with tape , also what service is missing as yamahas are 600 miles then 6000 or usually a year.

I was selling the model you have for £5099 brand new on a 56 plate (pre -reg) but they sold out like hot cakes.

    looks good tho

    happy riding

I payed £4995. As for being droped i don't think so, the indicator lights are tiny and on really thin stalks it's the stalks that has snapped and being held together with tape.

The bike is 13 months old but only 3100 miles but i still would have expected it to have a 6000/1 yr stamp, i phoned the dealer and all he said was no one takes any notice of time period only mileage.

Anyway i mustn't dwell on this as it will dull the experience so onward and upward and all that :D

  11. Muzz when you get home try and trace those wires and i would hazzard a guess that when attached it glows red. I am not sure why it has been placed there and how it is turned on and or off but i guess thats what it is! My previous life now coming into some use! lol.

    :D:D

Also with reference to the V shaped bit of fairing covering the downpipes have a look at the pics of my bike and you can see the bit i mean! its a bit hard to see as it is black on mine too but it gives you an idea of what your looking for!

    260520071020.jpg

And if it has had a service yes the book should be stamped but i would query that with the dealer as mine was serviced and stamped before i rode it out the showroom!

Ah ok, i see what you mean, yep looks like it's missing on mine eh! Not really that happy now, so far my screens got a crack, the tail tidy indicator is held together with tape, it's missed a service which i'll have to pay for and there's some fairing missing. Brilliant.

By the way your bike looks amazing, i love the exhaust can, might have to get myself one of those, thanks for posting the picture!

  13. HI think what matt is on about is the small v shaped fairing that sits behind the front wheel right at the bottom stops all the crap hitting the down pipes but hard to see if yours is missing as it is always black...

Ok thanks i'll check it out when i get home!!

    ;)

  14. hi yes all 2005 r6 come a v shaped fairing on them... think your right with neon bar thought may have been a scotoiler at first glance until bigger pics were posted not seen that before likes like wires disapear under seat...

sorry, please explain to me where it's missing?

  15. One other question about my new bike, it's 12 months old and is due a service, when i bought it they said all bikes were serviced before sale so assumed it would be the needed service and i'd have a stamp in the book but i haven't, would a pre delivery service be different from a scheduled one and will i have to pay for a service immediately now but in additon to the price of the bike.

  16. looks a bit like a 12v neon bar!!! lol

    :blink::blink::blink:

Very much doubt it is though!! lol

    :blink::blink::blink:

Ive been looking on google to try and find pics to see about that bit of V shaped fairing and i cant see properly if it is there or not?!?!

Anyone else with an 05 model able to help on this one?!?!

Sorry for being a numpty do you mean in the front on pictures, to cover the exaust down pipes? It would be helpful if you could let me know as i'll return it to the dealer
