  1. There is 6-34 just under arrow then 96 7 is stamped about an inch under that, very hard to see on picture.

I am just trying to identify whether standard or no, however, I have order a bore measuring tool off eBay so I can see if piston has been bored.

  2. Hello all I'm hoping someone can help me I am trying to identify what size the piston I have pulled out of the DT I am restoring is so I can purchase a new one.

    The only markings I can see are 6-34 & 96 7.

Here is picture of old piston, as you can see it has small grove on outer edge and I don't want to re-use.

    Please help!

This is the piston I pulled out of her, there is a slight split on the outer edge to the top left of where arrow is pointing, is this piston no good or can I re-use now I have cleaned it up?

  4. Cheers mate, I'm in Australia, just want to get it going before I start to shell out too much $$ for it.

If I can get her all cleaned up and going then I'll look around for oil pump and tank.

I have the bottom end all back together and should have frame all cleaned up and re-sprayed this weekend will post updated picks soon.

  5. Thank you, I think I have confused myself, I was thinking that there was meant to be a filler directly into crank case to lube transmission, however, it is apparent to me that the filler on the outside cover must be for the transmission and must transfer it to the inner engine...feeling bit stupid now, and I'm guessing that when I connect pump I will need to also install oil tank for mixing oil.

    Thanks again

  6. Hey all I restoring old DT 250 and want to see if I can get the engine running before shelling out $$. For oil pump.

My question is if I premix do I not fill with oil and how do I get oil back in the transmission? Have read that 4stroke oil is meant to be used in trannie but as first time working on bikes can not find a filler - prob starring me in face - and how

    much?

Do I just put on side and fill through drain plug?

    Please help.

I Can not find fill and are just tempted to turn engine on side and fill through drain plug...

    Please help

  7. I am new and very much a rookie when it comes to these forums.

I am from Cairns FNQ Australia.

I have recently embarked on my first bike restoration of a 1975 DT 250 B, I am hoping that the collective knowledge of all of you can help me with my project.

  8. I am new any kind of motorbike mechanics other than a general service.

I have recently acquired a 1975 DT 250B, and always wanting to embark on the restoration of a classic bike I thought I would dive in and start here.

Bike is was very rough and engine was ceased so have stripped it all down and am starting to clean in up. Here is photo of when I first collected 62cc6eaff40e284ab65b61bc4e2cc787.jpg

    And now

  9. Hello, I noticed you have experience with the Yamaha DT series.

I have recently obtained a 1975 DT 250b however, I have little to no experience in re-building older bikes.

It seems as the oil pump has been blocked off and I have read this is ok as long as you pre-mix fuel.

I was wondering if you could tell me if this is ok and if so what ratio and what oil do I use. Also, do I need to fill bike with oil if mixing? Further more I drained oil from bottom end before splitting case but am not sure what kind of oil and how much I should use for transmission and can't find filler.

Please excuse my ignorance any help you could provide me would be appreciated.
