  1. Ummm guys so we already once had a part mixup with the carb so I'm wondering maybe it happened again because there are no elongated slots to rotate my plate. But I don't know for sure of on a 78 dt 175 the plate should be like that. The plate simply has two screw holes. I wanna comfrim my theory though and maybe ine if you could. I'll make another video showing it too you if you'd like
  2. Ok cynic I'm a bit confused because it doesn't seem like the screws would wouldn't fit into their holes if I rotate the stater plate also what do the three text on the stater plate represent I'm not sure what they're supposed to line up with so I don't understand how they work
  3. Also the crank seal is leaking pretty good which that could be part of my problem
  4. Got the puller and got the fly wheel off not sure what to do now though as far a checking and resetting
  5. Ok I figured just trying to cover everything to narrow the issue down
  6. I don't have a puller Cynic but I know someone who does. Someone has definitely messed with the timing at one point because there's a mark scribed on the fly further out on it then the factory mark so it's easier to see. I'm anxious to get it off because as you can see by my last video it's closer then ever to being right .
  7. Little bit of a development! I put the air boot on and a definite difference. The bike will take more throttle now but only if applied very slowly also I put my fingers over the overflow pipe as well as the vent on the top right of the slide tube and this caused my bike to stall. Also I was messing with the cable adjust ment and I'm not sure if this makes sense but I haas it so full throttle wasn't that much throttle. However here's a new video to chech out
  8. https://youtu.be/jYQFtOMDluI Here's a vid of the fuel flow
  9. I haven't checked them in awhile but when I did they seemed on to me but I'll go through it all again and take pictures
  10. It is strange I've been around enough junk in my life that if it starts it usally works somewhat or it doesn't start. This bike is in some kind of twilight zone state. I have adjusted the float to both extremes as well as put it to factory specs and it runs the same or it won't start if there's too much or to little gas. I've haven't measured it specifically in awhile though and it wouldn't hurt to at least check it off the list. Air head do you mean the flow out of the tank? If so i believe it's good but I can take a video of it if you'd like.
  11. No difference always runs like that ever since I had it it
  12. Air jet should be clear had good air flow to the main jet. Still have to order correct air screw. Here's a new video
  13. Well looking at the diagram on a part site a 79 carb air screw should have an o ring and I know he one I have in it now doesn't another fatality of the carb mixup
  14. Ok I'll check it out again but the air mix screw really does nothing unless I take it out far enough and the bike just doesn't run
  15. Ok and if this where blocked would the air screw have no or minimal effect on the bike as I adjust it?
  16. Ok that's what I thought if I blow air through it and the air screw shouldn't it outlet somewhere?
  17. Airhead I replaced the rings so I have had the bike down that far and I nor did the person who was helping notice any oil build up and we did check in case there was some sitting. The reason why I think it could be timing is it's not combusting right and not burning up all the oil. My mixture could also have to much oil but I've filled the gas tank multiple times and it's always smoked like that. Also I don't smell fuel in transmission oil Cynic I have cleaned my carb many times however I do have a question about something if your looking at the air intake side there's the three holes the left most you can see the air screw the middle is blocked by a metal ball( not sure of technical term) and the third almost looks like some sort of jet to me. I tried to blow compressed air into while checking other ports and holes on the carb and that was the only thing I couldn't feel an outlet on. So my question is what is this is it some sort of airjet? Should I feel air coming out somewhere? Also I have a 140 main jet in the carb currently. The 2st oil tank should be on the left side but I don't have it. I have the pump disconnected and plugged at that carb. Thanks for your input guys really appreciate it
  18. For awhile I was running the bike without oil in the case because i just wanted to get it idling and revving right and it behaved the same way
  19. Also adjusting the idle screw doesn't affect it that much nor does the air mix
  20. Carb should be clean by all accounts the piolet jet is a bit big at the moment because I put the 78 jet in the 79'carb but a new one is on the way. I've had the exhaust cleaned out already as well as done it my self shouldn't be and issue. Not sure what you mean by baffle though. The bike will run off the choke but is more likely to die it will pretty much run indefinitely with it on.
  21. Hi all I have a 1978 dt 175 and I'm in need of some help with it. The bike starts however that's about all it does right. The idle is very rough and and it smokes way more then it should. Also the bike bogs out and dies when any throttle at all is given. I am unsure of why this is? I have tried a lot of different things I have cleaned the carb several time and blown it out I just found out after having the bike for a year that I have a 79 carb and was missing a I ring to seal the main jet. I ordered some "correct ones" but I also I have found one that seems to fit but no change at all has occurred. A friend has recommend me playing with the timing but I'm not sure if ican adjust it at all because it has a cdi or even how to test it. I'd appreciate any insight you guys could provide. Here's a video of my bike running
  22. Everyone I have battled and battle and battled with my 78 dt 175 and I cannot figure it out. The bike starts easy however this is all it does the idle sounds terrible and won't take any throttle at all it just makes the bike die. Here are my thought : the idle I currently have the wrong piolet jet in the carb because I just found out after a year of having the bike, bit has a 79 carb on it and when I got a new piolet jet I got one for a 78 that part is on the way. Bike not taking throttle: so after realizing the carb deal I realized I was missing a rubber o ring the seals the main jet... Ordered yamaha ones not here yet but I had a o ring that seems to fit... Didn't change anything. So I asked a friend to look at it run he thinks it's a timing issue. I don't know how to adjust my timing if I can and I don't know how to test my cdi if I can't. I need help desperately let me know your thoughts and suggestions Video of my bike running
  23. Blackhat I'll take the carb apart and check that however the bike does react to the choke it won't start easy without the choke on when it's cold. Or run without it on until it warms up which makes sense
