  1. not keeping the top yoke . I want to put higher bars for a laid back ride . I will either take the whole front end into my local breakers who said he might be able to match up something else . or I might have to get a top yoke fabricated depending on cost I suppose . if I have any luck either way I will let you know .

  3. Ok thanks all, some good points there, had not thought about it being roasting hot and that affecting the engine, makes sense when you think about it, your right will not take me all weekend to do the service and was just having a moan!!! But with air filter oil filter oil plugs (might as well) and no doubt some unexpected things cropping up I bet it's still all Saturday morning (see moaning again!!!) Plus I filled up on the motorway services so was BP not your cheapo stuff but that said I suspect that the hot journey never crossed my mind that the temp was a factor in fuel consumption.

hi mate . you might check for a sticky brake as my rear brake was binding slightly and caused me to use a bit more fuel . the brake wasnt even that bad .

  4. so is this going to be your first electric bike (if you need all that room for the battery) lol :biglaugha:

hi mate . im new to the club . i am in the process of completing a trike project using the xz 550 engine and frame . i have put kn filters on and with a bit of messing about will be using a vn 750 tank as there is plenty of room for the airfilters . just a thought for you .

  5. Hi Rab one of our mods wildfoamy has had the same problem see project f.u.c.r,he hasn't managed to find any but can rule out some

  6. hi there . Im a new member and could do with a bit of advice . I have taken over a trike project and am looking for some ideas to change the bars and thought i might get an easy option . lol .at the moment it has standard bars and i want bigger bars on . does anyone know of another top yoke that might fit or will I have to look at changing the front end ? . i have been told the 535 virago forks are the same diameter but dont know if the top yoke itself would line up with the steering head . Im pretty handy with the spanners and such but i have never tried to change anything like this before . just the usual boring stuff . lol . my thanks to anyone who can help . Rab . ps . I apologise to anyone who may take offence at this bike being triked but as I said i had no control over it and i havnt seen one of these bikes in the uk so parts are a pain and a small fortune to buy . easier to carry on with the trike I think .

  7. hi there im a new member on here . names Rab . im getting on a bit in years 52 . lol . i come from good old wishaw in scotland . im at present working on a trike project that is an xz 550 . sorry but i didnt start the project it was already underway and its easier to finish the trike than put it back to a bike . all the parts that were removed have apparently been lost or sold . im not used to yams but i have worked on a few kwaks over the years . my everyday ride is a kawasaki zl1000 eliminator that i have owned and ridden on and off for 21 years . looking forward to some chat . i will post some photos when i get time to take some . thanks . Rab .

  8. Hi and welcome to the forum Rab.

This section is for new members to say hello. You would be better posting the handlebar question in the workshop section.

That said, there are only a couple of bar thicknesses. 7/8 and 1 inch are the most common. Different once may need changes to the lengths of the cables and the clamping of the switchgear. Start a new thread in the workshop section and get some pictures up. Non standard fittings are better with a few pictures to help replies.

hi . thanks for the heads up on the wrong section . im a newby as far as computers are concerned . i will move my request for info to the workshop section . im new to the trike thing but i can turn my hand to most things on a bike . anyway no more waffling in this section . lol . look forward to reading up and chatting about yams and such . thanks .
