Hi, just working on my XT660r...have some questions!
-
Just wanted to come back and report that the charging problem has now been resolved without buying a single part. Turns out the field coil wasn't being energised due to a broken wire.
Thanks for the help anyway, Dan.

OK, thanks for your help.
Does anyone know a cross reference site so I can see what other bikes that Stator was fitted to to increase my chances of finding one?
-
OK, so with the engine running I get zero volts from between the three yellow wires.
I guess that does confirm that the stator is dead, right?

Thanks, will do.

OK I can do that. Would I expect to see 13-14 volts ac between each pair od wires?
I did visually check the Stator and it looked OK. Just a little dirt but not burnt or cracked.

I agree with the above. I have welded nuts to knackered exhaust studs to get them out. If you don't have a welder maybe you have a friend who does.

Oh ok, I figured it was a high reading because the manual says it should be 0.48 Ohms +/- 10% at 20*C (68*F)

So I am not charging. I check the Ohm Reading from between the three yellow wires from the Stator and got 6.4 Ohm each time.
Is my Stator totally fried?
Thanks, Dan.

I am in need of a .25 oversize piston kit. Can anyone suggest where these can be obtained. I'm having no luck finding some. Pattern I guess as Yamaha don't make them anymore.
Thanks, Dan

I have a 1977 xs 750 and I do not have the final drive dipstick. I have tried to get one but I wondered if anyone had that they could measure for me and I will make one.
Cheers Daniel.

Hi, I have rebuilt this XT660r after I received it in a generally poor condition. I've now got it all back together but ten I connect the battery only the indicators, horn and lights work and I have these lights on on the dash.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks, Daniel.
