  1. Hi everyone. Today I had a new rear tyre put on my XVS 150 just rode it home there now and there is a terrible metal grinding noise coming from the rear wheel. At first I thought that the mechanic might have overtightend the wheel so I loosened it and tried that but the noise is still there. Any ideas as to what might be causing this. The only thing I can think of is the rear brake might be on backwatds! Either way I'm.bringing it back to the mechanics tomorrow.

  2. I've had her up to 65 and that's with really bad cross winds and she wasn't even at full throttle but like yours she won't go over 60 with head winds. Plus I'm not the tallest and.only weigh 10 stone so that might be a factor. I'm not sure what the problem is with yours. Hope you get it sorted soon.

  3. Cheers buddy. Didn't sound patronizing at all. I actually do have the tools for the job I started a motor mechanics course about 12 years ago and an old mechanic gave me a full size snap on tool box filled with tools but then the garage went out of business and I dropped out of tech. I had ago at it earlier with a YouTube vid lesson but I quickley got frustrated as what I was doing didn't seem to make a difference. I'll have another go tomorrow and if I can't gett it ill assume that I need new sprockets and a chain.

Thanks again for taking the time to tell me how to do it and I wouldn't worry about sounding patronizing because I don't now anything about the mechanical side of this so Id be a bit of a Pratt if I thought you where being patronizing while trying to help me do something I don't know how to do but should know how to do :-)

  4. I was accelerateing to make the lights and hit a really bumpy bit of road and I mean bumpy. I assume that the rough ride was the cause along with the fact that the chain probably needed some lube. Where abouts se the adjusters?

  5. Hi Kevin. I have a Dragstar 125 as well but unfortunately I am a complete noob with the mechanical side of things but I'm sure someone here can help. I live in Belfast N.I. where abouts are you in Ireland

  6. I ride an XVS as well and at the top end it does scream like an angry wasp but for me the Dragstar is not about speed its about style, comfort and fuel economy. If you want more speed I think you should get a bigger bike. Also to make your bike sound bigger at lower speeds you could drill afew holes under the pipes.

  7. Hi everyone. I have run into a tiny problem with my Dragstar 125. I was traveling to wor the other morning and the chain came off! No big issue and I got the chain on again but now its hanging loosely. I have been told its an easy fix but I don't know how to do it. I want to do it myself so I can learn how to fix problems like this myself instead of paying a mechanic to do it. I am a complete noobie when it comes to mechanical stuff and is greatly appreciate any help thanks

  8. Hello. My names Chris. Im glad I found this place and hope to learn about my bike I ride a yamaha XVS Dragstar 125. Im not interested in getting more speed out of her as I like to relax while out on the road and be able to look around. What I am interested in though is customising her and learn about the mechanical side of things. Hopefully I will find what Im looking for here. Thanks
