  1. Hey guys sorry aint been on here for a while just an update the bike is almost ready for the mot now the frame has been restamped by a friend who works in a bike garage I haven't actually seen it because he's took the bike away to do the work. The bike now has a new loom which me and the friend made from scratch, it has new lights new indicators and all that lol and also I've given it a nice new paintjob not the best but better than what the thieves did to it. Oh it's also had new fork seals and new tyres :) just really hoping I get away with the frame number does anyone know how thoroughly they actually check the number because even before it was stolen it was hard to read

    Cheers guys

  2. Thanks for the advice mate I'm going to see what dvla say first and then I might try it myself I know a mate who's an mot tester so I'll get him to mot it if I do the restamping myself would any of you have a rough idea of how much a new wiring loom will cost me ? It's a bloody nightmare the people who stole it get off with nothing and i have to spend all this money getting it right :(

  3. Just an update the Yamaha dealer is refusing to do the work now without a letter from dvla approving them to do it. Apparently he spoke to Vosa and they said don't restamp it without a letter which dvla wont give me. Dvla then told me I have to write a letter to my local dvla office and arrange an appointment to have someone look at it and reissue the vin and give me a new plate. There bloody useless so now I have to take my bike over 20 miles god knows how much this will cost :(

  4. Hi

That’s good to hear, when the Yam shop stamp the number keep any receipts, so that when you sell the bike on you can explain the re-stamped numbers, I don’t suppose it will help keep the value of the bike from falling but it will help to satisfy the legality of the bike

yeah I will do buddy I'm not too fussed about the value she a keeper and i don't want to see her go anytime soon :)
  5. Haha love it, there was no way I was allowed to keep my field bikes in the house when I was living with my parents.

What are you doing at college?

yeah :( my mum said she would rather have my bike in the house than get nicked again. I'm doing automotive engineering its just all maths though not enough practical :( but it's quite fun :)
  6. I would recommend going fire and theft at least i have a 92 dt 125 and I got nicked I was only 3rd party only and lost out big time :( the police finally recovered the bike but it's a bit of a state now tbh. Like what has already been said depends on where you live I live on a council estate so yeah haha

  7. Hey and welcome to the forum Adam! Glad you have your bike back - ruddy chavs...

Can't bloody stand them I live in quite a well known area for being rough one of my neighbours had his 2012 husquvrna stolen last night :( I'm keeping my dt in my hallway at night mums not happy though !!

  8. Thanks for the friendly welcomes guys I'm new to this forum things but yeah good idea I'll start a project section when I can finally get some money together to start it haha sucks being at college 5 days a week :(. Thanks if I get stuck I'll let you guys know I'll appreciate the help :)

  9. Hey buddy I got told by dvla that because I still have the v5 and the police report to confirm it's identity I can contact my local Yamaha dealer and they should be able to restamp or reissue and new vin number to me. At the moment I'm still waiting for my local dealer to get back to me he said he would find out more info and let me know. So yeah I don't see it being a problem mate I'll let you know what they say :)

  10. Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone can help me. Basically I have a 1992 Yamaha dt 125 and it was stolen in April I just got the bike back yesterday but the thieves have ground off the vin and engine numbers and stripped all the lights is there anyway I can actually legally get my bike back on the road and get it through the mot I still have the v5 in my name. Sorry for the long post haha
