  1. Thats right pizzle, just have a ride down and ask them first, if they will oblige remove the cover and hey presto. yeah then have them just nip it up so you can get home

thas kool cheers man ile be doing tht @ the weekend B)

  2. so... to pick up where ide left off .... :D

once the powervalve problem was sorted and it was running fine again ( well ish ;) ) i moved onto the look that i wanted to achieve ... ide looked about for hours checking and looking @ ideas from bike to bike and came up with a plan hehe ;)

    so streetfighter supermoto it is

i addressed the rear end problem of the seat overhanging the fender <_< never liked the look of that so after cropping the plastics to follow the line of the frame

    25062011070.jpg

and making a tail tidy of my own :D

    28062011077.jpg

i then chopped the rear end down starting from the seat which i removed 3 inches from the back ..

    30062011078.jpg

following this adjusted the lines of the rear fender and built up the panel as i wanted it to look using paper mashe as a base

next for the first layer of fibreglass

    13072011096.jpg

then a quick sand down before then next layer was applied ( corners are a pain in the arse )

    13072011097.jpg

    14072011099.jpg

    16072011104.jpg

    16072011103.jpg

added a layer of resin and filler next

    12072011095.jpg

another session of sanding and a final layer of fibreglass ment i was left with this ...

    18072011104.jpg

    18072011105.jpg

to which ive added a layer of white paint to show my high spots

    23072011119.jpg

this will be attacked with a sander and then given another lick of paint to giv the desired finish for the inside of the mould :D

i also changed the lights as the front lights arent the most aesthetically pleasing ;)

after raiding my old mans old hotrod plastics i found a fibreglass panel remover from the boot so i stole it :P

cut it up and ended up with this

    20072011112.jpg

next the brackets had to be fabricated so i used some old pieces of ply

    22072011117.jpg

how it looks all together front on

    22072011116.jpg

    22072011115.jpg

    soooo....

the end of a long winded explanation of what ive done to it the explaination probaly wasnt needed

but hey some one might have asked :)

ile upload some more once things move along :icon_cheesygrin:

  3. Try a cordless impact/rattle gun, windy gun on the sprocket, should sort it aaaaaaaht ;)

sweet :) i thi8nk my old mans got an impact driver :S not sure if tht would have an attachment tht would fit

Yeah in the past I have ridden my bike to a local tyre fitting bay to do that, of course I dont own a rattle gun but they do. They would usually oblige. ;)

yh old g ile probly end up down the tyre shop aswell then haha did you just get them to losen it off then redo it bak up so its easier when you're at home ?

n thanks guys much appriciated :lol::lol:

  4. hey peeps

i thought it was about time i got my sorry behind in gear and put up a few pictures of my dt and show you all how my project has and is coming along

    so ...

as it looked on purchase ..

    dt125r1999172dep.jpg

firstly removing everything to have a look at the condition and a few minors but overall looked sound so my first problem was my dodgey head nut which had threaded the stud ( covering my leg in hot water  )...

    12062011060.jpg

( should of fully stripped that and powercoated the frame and swingarm n had the forks done bt ile get round to that )

    12062011064001.jpg

    enginehead.jpg

    12062011063.jpg

(as you can see the chains still on  any1 kno any tricks to get the front sprocket off ive tried locking the backwheel using the gears aand back brake and combinations of the both or all to no avail and as i wanted / really need to upgear it this could be a nuisance)

eventually i had this sorted with the help of the machine shop at my old work

wer they kindly drilled n removed the stud after ide sheared it off trying to remove it using nuts as a friction lock (ending up accross the garage as a result) <_<

i then came to the problem on which i broke my yamaha forum virginity B)

    15062011067prt2.jpg

my dodgy electrics and powervalve to which cynic and old G graciously offered there help and i managed to overcome this problem although my back light wont flash when the brakes are applied :( but thats all that rong now electrically speaking ...

    anyways ..

 time as ive got work ile finish up tomorrow

    Pizzle B)

  5. Sorry Pizzle, bad news mate, am going back with the standard headlight cowling, so I'll be needing the speedo drive. But I can help you with the fork gaitors, I bought them off ebay, they are/were advertised as neoprene, monster energy 'pit bike' fork protectors, forget who the sellers name was mind, but a search should come up with them, around about 14 quid if I remember rightly, although I must say that the monster energy insignia was a tad on the yellow side, so got the missus to go over it with my wacky daughters 'monster energy green' nail varnish  and the decals again off ebay, from a bloke in Portugal, 'filed7071' £29.00 plus pnp,

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-DTR-125-BLACK-STICKERS-/200623601607?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2eb61937c7

I think I had the last black ones, although he may have ordered more by now, but if you get in touch with him, he's a nice and very helpful chappy. Cheers for the thumbs up by the way, it's little gestures like that, that give me a kick up the backside when I feel like I cant be arsed to go outside and work on the bike, when it's 'looking a bit black ovver bill's mothers' weather, and you find that your having to cover over your bike, and get all your tools inside every 15 mins, whenever it looks like rain on it's way.

Good luck with your fibre glassing too, maybe get some pics up of your bike project? may inspire somebody else in here to have a go, bit of a knock on effect.

Oh aye just thought, AndyDtr08 on here is flogging some bits and bobs, maybe he has a speedo drive you're after.

    Cheers Nev

    thas no worries nev

cheers tho ile hav to ask him bout tht

n thanks im lookin for the gaiters as im writing this :) lol nt much luck so far but sum better ones than ive found but nt yet found ur elusive monster ones haha

n yh i kno im blessed with a garage but i never had one at my old house so i suffered the same fate as you there on more than a few ocasions haha n yh i should reli put one on as my whole bikes basically an unfinished project haha n my source of fun till i get it legal ;)

uve got to upload your photos to an alternate website or hosting server ( i think thats wat it is  ) n then post in the link dnt you or can i put them straight from my comp to the thread as im writing ?

    B) sweeeeet

  6. Panels, decals and headlight unit came today, starting to look something like a DT now. Tank sprayed but still some dinks in it need sorting out

    img0160ac.jpg

fitted the heat repellent fabric on rear panel. otherwise it will turn to mush after half hour of the exhaust heat on it.

    img0161ak.jpg

Decals were a bit of a pig to fit, not too many bubbles will go round with a pin tomorrow after they've settled in.

    img0162ap.jpg

Headlight unit on, and panel sprayed green, looking smart, but either need to make brackets for it to get around the size of the clocks, or get rid of the standard clocks and go digital, not sure yet.

    hey nev im back ;)

haha still looking more impressive every time i av a look geez

i wanted to go digital but my funds wer too short n i couldnt stretch to the cost as im nt working atm <_<

if u decide to go digital would you consider selling me your orignal speedo drive from your front wheel :P

as my local shop wants 75 quid :o and thats jus way outa the question ive had a little look on evil-bay n places like that but still with not much luck or theyre ther wen ive not got the cash lol

neways cracking bike m8 im doin my front lights atm but ive started from scratch with an old pice of fibre glass n a fibreglass kit ;) n where did u get those sxc gaiters youve got for your forks ? i can only find acerbis ones n they dnt suit my bike,

and your graphics did you have those made or wer they a striaght buy ?

    cheers nev and good luck

    pizzle

  7. It would work but may not run too well as exhaust are made the way they are for a reason. The bore will most probably be too big as two stroke cans tend to be quite small for back pressure.

yh i did have a feeling it wouldnt work i jus thought ide pop a question out n c if any1 has got it 2 work lol

    cheers ryan :D

  8. Aghh...fall in love with a DEP...a lot less hassle ;)

:D haha true n ile have to get sum t-cut n redo mine again lol lookin @ nevs i tried mine without t-cut but it didnt come out as nice i fink my neighbours got some  so il ask 2 borrow a cup of tht instead ;) haha

n the silenecer looked awesome n when ide offered it up it looked sweet so jus thought ide pop on here n ask if any1 knew if it'd work :)

    cheers o.g

    much obliged :D

  9. hey nev

gotta say shes looking gorgeous m8 ;) im jus a tad jealous haha

i attacked my exhaust yesterday after avin a read on here n it came out quite good i was pleasantly suprised :)

def one for the watch m8 ile be poping back in due course good luck

    on your project

    pizzle :D

  10. hey guys

ive found an akrapovic silencer from a 600 suzuki bandit my mate had it  lol nt sure how or why ?? but i wernt complainin when he said i could have it after i spotted it in his garage

but would i be able to fabricate it to a pipe to go on my dt125r its got a full dep atm but ive got a 2nd dep silencer thats crushed wer my mates bike got reversed onto ( :hah: i was nearly in tears at tht lol)

so i could use the bit where it connects, and end up wit a dep expansion chamber n a carbon akrapovic :D

im a welder by trade so joining the 2 wouldnt b a problem but does any1 kno if its worth doin ? or trying ? or would even work well ? b4 i buy the silencer ?

(ive fell in love with tht silencer )

    lol

    cheers guys :)

  11. hey guys

minor problem <_< lol ive lost my tickover , dnt know where it has gone  but riding my bike about without 1 is really getting on my nerves as my clutch isint brilliant and the amount of times ive had to stop and sit there kiking the fuk out of my bike to restart it at a traffic light is unbelievable  ( it once took that long the fukin light changed from red to green and bak to red b4 ide started the thing and this was the last straw)

it didnt have a tick over when i bought it .. ive tried the screww on the side of the carb and that does nothing no matter how many turns its given .

and im not sure where to go from here any1 know how to restore it and fancied sharing that information would be a godsend ;)

  12. cheers guys :D

oldgitonabike - i clicked on ur signiture n had a read of the thread n thought ide been a bit obnoxious jumpin in and jus askin 4 help straight of the mark

so i wanted to show im not just here to run away again once im sorted lol B)

im also interested in any rides goin on in the southeast ( once my new bbys up and fully operational)

guna check out the forums bout them a bit more see whats goin on i think :)

  13. hey fellow petrol heads :D

im pizzle, or adam whichever u prefer is fine by me (my mates just call me pizzle, n theres a long story behind tht nik name ;) ) i live in kent and have done all my life although i recentl;y moved bak into my mums due to money problems and the nice double workshop in the garden ;)

i ve already posted a few times and kind of fall into the " gimme ur knowledge" category but felt an intro was in order 2 redeem my self slightly haha

ive rode bikes since i was little and have always had a passion for anything with 2 wheels or anything with an engine (regardless of the size) ive owned 13 bikes so far and im only 20!!! B) but most of these wer never on road bikes until my senda came along lol but thats another story :) (and a bargain @ £150)

im currently riding a dt125r with a 172 kit on it but it had had a few problems and a mate of mine ( well kinda) and "gimme ur knowledge abuser" told me 2 check out this site and to my amazement and great curiosity some1 had answered my post about my dodgey electrics, dispite my dodgey wording and totally shocking description of the problem  but unfortunately that problems still ongoing but im getting help to resolve it so thanks a million

neways enuf with my boring speal

look 4wad 2 being part of the community and i look 4wad 2 tlkin to more of you on here ^_^
