  2. Thats not a drama mate I will go in the loft during the week n get them down for some pics, they are brand new and where on my bike for a day lol.

Right as for my bike, its now out the shack and ive done another three videos which I will upload onto you tube and post them and some more pics on here tomorrow. She runs great just need to sort out the needle jets to make her run better, if not I will have to sort out another bigger main jet.

    Stay tuned

  3. Lol thats not much help as standard Jap could be any thing! the XVS 125 is 7/8 yet the XVS 650 is 1"!

I would say that your 125 would be 7/8 but just to make sure id buy your self one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-46610-Dual-Reading-Digital-Vernier/dp/B001EZ5QUO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1327649743&sr=8-5 and get your bars mesured properly then go from there.

It wont be too much drama if you buy 1" and not 7/8 as you can always buy a new set of risers that will fit to your bike and your new bars. (you may need new risers any way so that the new bars clear your tank ;))

  4. Ok, no worries, have you made sure that they will fit your bike? ie that they are either 1" thick or 7/8 thick? Its not a drama if they aint drilled n grooved just that if there not then you cant hid wires in them lol.

  5. Not a drama Mate hopefully you will get them! they are a good style of bar as your not lent over too much and if you get a set of pull back risers you could even have a nice lazy sit up possion.

Are the ones your bidding on drilled and grooved?

  6. Just to help you out in your bobber argument.

A bobber is a custom motorcycle that usually has had the front fender removed, the rear fender "bobbed" or made smaller, and all superfluous parts removed to make it lighter.

The bobber was the earliest simple and stripped down custom motorcycle hand-built by individuals with mechanical skills and often part of the early biker clubs scene before there were any such thing as choppers. It is a style of custom motorcycle which took shape in the 1940s and 50s, generally thought to have been started by returning WW II American servicemen working on ex-military motorcycles and inspired by lighter European motorcycles they had seen and ridden.

The bikes reflected their owners and were often homemade but today there are many companies that create such vehicles. The style has also influenced motorcycle manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson.

The style continues to be favored by some to this day. Hybrid styles have emerged such as as a "bobber chopper" and retro-bobber

Bobbers are related to choppers in that they represent a minimalistic approach where the motorcycle is stripped of parts or accessories not needed but bobbers generally retain the characteristics of the stock frame.

The principal difference between a bobber and chopper is that bobbers are typically built around unmodified frames. Chopper frames are often cut and welded into shape. Bobbers also often lack most of the chopper's aesthetic characteristics such as chromed parts and elongated forks. Thus, bobbers are fairly easy to create from stock motorcycles and are generally hand built.

The term chopper started to be used from the late 1960s onwards, for motorcycles whose frames had been customized to have a greater angle at which the front suspension protruded with smaller fuel tanks and tall handlebars called ape hangers. For many owners, the difference between bobbers and choppers doesn't come down to what's on the motorcycle but what isn't on it and whether it has a short front end or a long front end, stretched suspension defining it as a chopper.

Whereas customized motorcycles can be extremely expensive, bobber builders tend to adopt an economical approach involving old, second hand, recycled parts and hand machined items redolent of the period before the mass-market motorcycle accessory industry had developed.

Bobbers are considered to be the first streetfighter style motorcycle.

  7. considering its an easy task to do i will give this out for free with out an intro from your self.

1 bolt at the rear of the seat, (10mm or 12mm) rotate anti clock wise a few times till bolt comes off. Lift rear of the seat up then slide back words off of the bike. prob the most easiest job to do on the bike bar putting petrol in it.

Now please go to new members part of the site n introduce your self as there will not be any more free information given out.

    Dave

Dont get dis-heartened on not passing your test mate! its all apart of the journey! keep going and keep calm your do it next time!

I actually got the bars off of Amazon! lol they where £70 and are drilled and grooved for the cables to go through but that job will be next christmas time job, i just wanna get out and ride her now, but will sort all the little bits out first.

looks brill , BUT , theirs always going to be a but,

and on this occasion it's that brake fluid casing , it needs a rub down , and either chroming or matt blacking.

    as it's bubbling.

Yer i know what your saying mate, i keep looking at it and thinking it needs doing, i may have a look at it this week if im given permission from the missus to tinker lol

  10. Hi Mark and welcome to the club!

Id first start with changing front or rear sprokets either a few teeth less = more acceleration or add more teeth = more top end speed but less acceleration.

I will def go for the "pass ya test" option and just us those L plates as ammo to get you motivated. Im not clued up on these R125's so take my comments with a bit of salt but i "think" these 125s arn't that good to be tuned as they are a new bike and they may have a few ristrictors to stop you mucking about with them......(again thats a "i think")

If your still not happy with the speed but want a 125 that goes like stink, then its an Aprilia 125! those things do 100mph and dont hang around on the lights too long BUT the engines can blow quite quick.

Just get ye test done mate and all will be gravy baby!

  11. Sissy bar lock? is this the little thing that you use to lock your helmet too? (you motorbike helmet not your prince elbert!) lol

If so i have two of them.........(at least one! not sure if i took one off the 650 but def did on my 125)

  12. A frustrated wife buys a pair of crotchless

panties in an attempt to spice up her dead sex-life. She puts them on,together with a short skirt and sits on the sofa opposite her husband.

At strategic moments she uncrosses her legs ... enough times that her husband finally asks,

    "Are you wearing crotchless panties?"

"Y-e-s," she answers with a seductive smile.

"Thank God - I thought you were sitting on

    the cat."

  13. Hey guys and gals,

Well we are nearly there! only a few more bits to finish off and then she comes out the shed ready for a good old ride out. Ive wired up the number plate light which ive threaded through the swing arm so just gotta get a rubber gromit to stop the water getting into the swing arm, Ive put my bar end wing mirror onto the normal mounting point for wing mirrors (dont look too bad i think) and i have finished the front seat brackets so just need to do the rear brackets and paint them and re fit them with the seat.

So once she is out the shed and i have more room i will bleed the brakes and top up the fuel and thats job jobbed!!! heres a few more pics for ya to look through.

    Handle bars now on,

    mms_img-1344088104.jpg

Front seat brackets done and ready for paint

    mms_img1570212959.jpg

Bar end mirror mounted in the "right" place

A quick side shot, i will be getting my mate to spin me up some exhaust tips when i take it to work, thinking a nice copper or brass tip will look nice?

    mms_img-1203870938.jpg

  14. yer plants dont last long in my tank as the plecs either eat them or dig them up so if and when i buy more i always chuck half a cucumber in the tank to take them away from the plants. also gives them some thing to play with and chase arount the tank lol.

Ponds are good and i do like those ghost karp, a mate of mine has a pond n has about 30-40 Coi karp in there, he's had the pond since he was 14 (birthday precent lol) and when he moved out of his mums he took it with him.

Dose that pond belong to you or your dad?

  15. Hi And welcome to the club,

Can you smell petrol as tho its going into the carbs? and are the plugs getting wet?

Also has your bike got a choke lever? if so pull that fully out as my 650 dragstar had a starting problem the other day after 3 months of being in bits and fired up fine once i pulled the choke out.

  16. I'm with Cynic on the 'reverse bleed' method, except I use a syringe from one of those paint tinting kits you get from B&Q. Attach to the bleed nipple, crack it open and pump fluid into the system - you can watch the bubbles come out at the master cylinder end just like opening a bottle of Coke. You'll know when it's all done as the 'fizzing' will stop and you'll just get fluid filling the reservoir. Watch you don't overfill it, and as usual keep an eye open for splashes (I throw an old blanket over everything just in case).

If you're paranoid, you can then tie the lever back overnight just to be sure the last wee hangers-on are out of the system.

Ok cool this sounds like a good option to go for. So should i drain the old fluid out then pump new fluid in? Sorry if this sounds bladdy dumb lol just that being as its brakes im not really in that frame of mind of fucking this job up lol
