  1. Hey there, sorry the ad has been temporarily taken off because I changed the text a little and now the automatic filters do not accept "oxford hardcore xl" anymore! haha It will be up again soon. I have knocked the price down a little. You're welcome to see the bike for yourself if you're in London. I love my little bike. I have had millions of compliments and it does turn heads. Often mistaken for a powerful bike. It rides very well, especially with that air filter. But you know, once I have tasted 500cc during my DAS, 125 seems like a toy! :)

  2. I was riding and then I glanced at the dials and there were no lights or numbers! I think it is because of a bumpy ride... I have disconnected and reconnected the wiring around the battery but it did not fix the problem. All of the indicator lights and brake lights work and the bike works too.....but the dials are dead. Please help, could this be serious? And what should I do?

    Thanks

  3. I got my TPFT from MCE...That was about £550 but I had no experience and I'm a woman which seems to increase the premium (??!). The quote was the cheapest of them all. Good luck!

  4. R125 08 plate..first bike, no experience, passed CBT 2 months before buying the bike, 20 years old at the time of purchase, female....£550 TPFT from MCE :) Quite satisfied.

Dirty DT - the thread may be old but new info could be useful to some...I was on this forum myself when looking up bike insurance quotes ;)

  5. Does the engine rev and this is not matched by the acceleration?

Have you checked the exhaust to see if you have any leaks or loose bolts?

Doubt if it is the air filter.

Yes and yes, I have checked and there doesn't seem to be any.

could it be a slipping clutch, it would be worse in higher gears uphill

Is there any way I could check that visually or whilst riding? My bike seems to make less noise on higher gears. The issue is mainly with moving off from stationary position. I'm worried I might kill the bike by accelerating harder at traffic lights.

  6. I do not know what happened but I noticed (or I am imagining) in the last few days of riding my YZF-R125 that it is as though it has lost some power. It's hard to explain but I can just feel it. The bike has started to make more noise than power. The revs go high but the acceleration is less than what it used to be. Nothing too dramatic of course but I can definitely feel it...and its bugging me!

So my question is, should I change the air filter or could there be another underlying problem? Thanks

  7. Have you seen Hideout?

A lot of women go there to get stuff in their size, including my Mrs. They're very good at catering for REAL Women who want REAL Women-shaped clothing!!

Are you hinting at something.....? and thanks for the link. Much appreciated!

Be careful with RST. I have one of their leather jackets which is well made but a pair of their fabric trousers which started coming away from the seams after a couple of months.

Thanks for the warning. I have just read your other post...I was going to get RST Rift for ladies. Lucky I didn't!

  8. I've had several close ones, mostly stationary drivers not thinking before moving off and trying to beat an oncoming bike.

This happens very often to me! Why do drivers think they're quicker than a bike?

Once a car pulled out like 2-3metres in front of me from stationary (traffic) position. Closest call I've had to date...Just about held my bike out on the road. One other time it would have been my fault as 2 cars in front of me slowed down, first one was turning left, so I decided to go on the outside and the second car decided to do the same! I was inches from the car but managed to swerve into the oncoming lane....But I'm learning from my mistakes ;)

  9. Thanks Rutele those are my thoughts exactly.. everytime i go to get on my buddy's bike (mine still isn't running right) I have a head full of horror stories.

Gotta stay confident and always alert though. Must not let these thoughts cloud your thinking ;)...I pretend that all drivers are idiots and I always expect the worst case scenario...therefore I'm usually prepared to react.

  10. Stories like these give me goosbumps...I probably shouldn't be reading them at 2am!!

My boyfriend has feint scars on each knuckle, hips, feet, knees and arms....was hard to convince him to let me get a bike. His friend survived a (very) high speed crash....until they removed his helmet.....

Weirdest thing happened last week - an old couple approached me as I was getting ready to jump on my bike and started telling me about god and "you're too pretty to ride bikes" and about their friend on a bike, etc....I have to say it scared me a little, I thought that it's a sign that something bad is about to happen.

  11. Now, about this "tall and slim" that you mention... We may need photos! :P;)

    But yeah - I'm 5' 11" with a 33" inside leg and a 28" waist. I have the exact same problem!!

No kidding!! I am 5'10", I wear 34" inside leg jeans...I'm a ladies size 10. I went to J&S Accessories in New Malden on several occasions and I believe I tried on about 90% of the ladies clothing without any luck. The closest match was from RST...At least you guys have a lot more choice....

    This is nice LINKY

Surely you were being sarcastic.........?

  12. Hi, just looking for quick advice on whether it is acceptable to mix a few brands together, or whether I should stick to the same brand when it comes to leather jacket and trousers?

I currently have this jacket >> http://www.daytona20...ganclaraevo.jpg but no trousers!

I struggle to find trousers that fit me well as I am tall and slim. Do you think these will suit/match the jacket, and are they good quality? >> http://www.jsaccesso...f/t/ftl314w.jpg (black/white), http://www.mandsmoto...0002365_300.jpg (black)

Thanks for your opinions in advance!

  13. No cynic

You are not the only one who finds this irritating. I suppose now we have some decent weather this will bring out the drugged up mindless chavs who drive around in their souped up Vauxhalls and Peugeots with go faster wheels playing this repetitve crap. What gets my goat is the Police are quick enough to nick some biker because his exhaust dosen't have the correct stamp on it irrespective of how loud it is. But they never seem to pull up these dickheads with their loud exhausts and music??? blasting out through their open windows. I personally think this is victimisation towards bikers. Tony

I personally like trance a lot (tasteful kind which does often have good bass) but it hardly leaves my room or my ipod. I agree that "drugged up mindless chavs who drive around in their souped up Vauxhalls and Peugeots" and blast funky/garage music, and other annoying crap, are wayyyy irritating! And I live in an area where they are plenty...Don't get me started with the exhausts that they plant on their old buckets...a big joke is what they are!

  14. Well, Bolton is a little out of my way...:) so I think I will give the visor a go. Will probably get one off ebay unless I get any other suggestions.

Thanks to all for your advice and opinions! Really helped me to make a decision.

Fingers crossed it will look as awesome as I can already picture it in my head :D

  15. You think you jinxed it?

You definitely jinxed, you bastid!!!!! Once-sunny Reading is now covered with big-ass black clouds now, right when I'm about to ride home in a vented Summer jacket (ie with panels full of holes)!!!!!

 Sorryyyyy...take care on the road!! Maybe wait it out...I can see a light in the clouds through my window ;)
