  1. The XVS1300 was a fantastic bike and there's now a custom version too. I'd check them out.

All will need more cleaning time than the FJR so be prepared to set the odd Sunday afternoon aside

I looked at the 1300 but its water cooled like the 1800M Suzi so not interested it had to be Aircooled.

Yeah the cleaning will be a pissa but I have all the gear to do it as my 350B probably has more chrome.

  2. i`m interesed to upgrade on 1900 but I still don`t see any live and I will not buy one before a drivetest. I want be sure is not to heavy for me... i fell good on my 950 at 300 kg loaded but 345 kg of the 1900 can be a problem for me. I have under 65 kg and I keep my muscles in the fridge for special ocazion, so, I will not upgrade before I will have the chance to ride one... i`m in the list for drivetest but seems like they don`t have time for me.. i apply over 6 months ago .. maybe is time to renew this :))

you chose the A standard model from the dealers that sell the one I give you the link?

If you are interested in a 1900 get in there as Yamaha are not selling them next year due emission regs and thats why the prices are so good.

No. I got mine from Tamworth Yamaha which was a Yamaha display bike its actually an ACFD without the Batwing which is why it was so cheap.

I rode one in California 5 years ago up the PH1 and through part of Death Valley with a pillion and its a doddle to ride. Yes it's fairly heavy but it's all low down and seams lighter than my old FJR.

  3. Thanks for the link Lallasro that is a good price. I have gone for an A version which is £5100 off list :icon_eek: plus I'm having Panniers, Blade screen and Sissy bar fitted. I got a good trade-in as well all I can say is.

If you are looking for a new bike the dealers are willing to deal. So get out there and do it.

  4. Update. After quite a bit of searching for info, I'm afraid the Victory's are out as there are a few things that can pack up for no reason and the parts are dam pricey. So its going to be the XV1900 not raider though as long as I can get a good deal mind.

  5. Cheers guys for the input. I like the Hammer however the Jackpot is winning at the mo probably because there are not so many about also the frame is painted the same colour as the bodywork plus has more chrome as standard.

I have rode the XVS1900 I quite like the 50's look, its really comfy and easier to ride than the Victory's probably due to the rear tyre which by the way are over 200 quid.

The Suzuki 1800 a bargain but its water cooled and shaft drive so that's not in the running. There is a Yam1900 custom called a Raider which I quite like but they are imports.

  6. Well I was just about to leave school and had a thing for fixing engines and my Dad got me a Capri for which I was very grateful but I have never been into cars. Anyhow a good mate had 2 FS1E and 1 SS Yamaha which I had been helping him fix over the years and I had a hankering to have one, so a new FS1E-DX was purchased after I sold the Capri which really upset Mom as cars are safer apparently!

    You'll like this bit!

2 weeks later I was riding along and what happen an Old Asian man pulled out in front of me and bang the bike was a write off, the car was a Ford Capri but not the same one. The day was Friday 13th!

  7. Why did you rejet for idle! It works off a different part of the carb.

Check the air screw is set too the correct amount of turns and then the tickover knob, after that look for air leaks also make sure the spark plug is tight. That should keep you going for a while.

PS. If you open the choke on a hot engine it should cut out its only for cold starting.

  8. Open pipes all tend to pop on the over run as air gets sucked in when decelerating, getting the fueling better will help but unless you have a baffle they all pop a bit.

I would have a look and see what has been done to carbs and check against the standard settings, most people think they have to fit a larger main jet which isn't the case, as said before just moving the needle is enough.

  9. Dropping the swingarm is the best way as links are weak and the chain wears quicker at that point. Once you have the swingarm spindle out you just lower the pivot slip the chain over and refit. I find its quicker as well.
