Looking for a little bit of advice....my ongoing project (93' XV535) was put on hold for a few months what with Xmas and my husbands arthritis (any excuse not to work on 'MY' bikes)...lol....anyway we purchased a used fuel pump from e-bay which my hubby has now fitted however when the ignition is switched on the pump makes what i can only describe as a 'Rattle Type Noise' this last for approx 5 secs then goes silent...........can anyone advise is this normal for this type of bike

    Thanks

  3. Here here............. christofeser

    nice touch

I lost my Grandfather during the 2nd World War, he was a Sgt in the Royal Artillery......he served and was killed in North Africa shortly before the end of the war. My other hubbys Grandfather also held the same rank in the same regt and also served in North Africa....(coincidence or what considering my Granda was from London & hubbys Granda was from Northern Ireland) the only difference was that my hubbys granda came home after the war.

My hubbys family have a long history of military service.....including hubbys great uncle serving in the Infantry in both the 1st & 2nd World war (brother to the above mentioned Granda) , hubbys father and uncle ex Royal Navy, another uncle and 2 cousins ex army and also hubby is ex-military........we also have several friends and relatives currently serving that we are thinking of !!!.

    We will remember them....

Hey Jammer... dont take the phrase 'Hand to Eye co-ordination' too literally !!!!!.........i usually put food substances like this in my mouth.;)

  5. Hello Oldtimer...

Thankyou for your reply and as you suggest i will await the DVLNI information....

However I beg to differ with your self medically diagnosis.....

I believe that you may need your eyes tested, my initial post was not in 'UPPER CASE'......i think you'll find it was however properly constructed with both upper & lower case, but with the lettering in a larger font & bold..... for that i am really very sorry and did not wish to appear to be shouting....in future you can be assured i will be on my best behaviour.

  6. Hello Again Guys...

Need a little help........you may or may not be aware that i purchased a XV535 quite recently, the person we bought it from is known to our family and lives close by. The bike we knew prior to purchase did not have any papers (they have been applied for via the DVLNI) and was originally purchased and registered in England. The plate has a 'K' prefix.....I was informed by the previous owner that the bike was a 1992 reg, but having looked through Motor Cycle News i have my doubts and have observed K reg described as 1993 therein....i'am awaiting the paperwork coming back from the DVLNI at Coleraine. I am originally from 'Berks' but it has been quite sometime and am unable to recall the system.....here in Northern Ireland the registration system is different....does anyone on the forum know what year a 'K reg' is.............and if so please let me know.....

  11. Hi Kelum,

Oh I meant the few that have replied! Will defo be chatting to those that want a chat and have a few fab helpers out there already! some good advice received including 'just bin it!' lol

Have put some photos in an album which I hope you can see. I am still getting to grips with this site layout, so bear with me if things aren't where they are meant to be! and will be adding pics as we go along.

    Kaz:rolleyes:

  12. Hello 'OG'...

Thankyou for your reply which we would both agree with.....but according to the 'Clymer' manual a Air Injection System was fitted to all XV535's from 1989 on....this is apparently an emission control system to reduce the amount of hydrocarbons released into the atmosphere. The system consists of an air cut valve, a reed valve assembly and air and vacuum hoses. This system does not pressurize air, but uses the momentary pressure differentials generated by the exhaust gas pulses to introduce fresh air into the exhaust ports.

All these parts are supposed to be housed in the front LHS chromed effect compartment but on my bargain bike they aint there....lol

Yep....i can see your eyes glazing over from here........but would be very interested in your opinion ???

  13. Sorry Folks...

I have very recently purchased a 1992 XV535 Virago.....she is in need of a little work.

I have run into a slight problem and need help and earlier i put a post on the site, I have just read my post entitled 'Air injection System'.....and even i am confused....so i will simply ask does anyone know if the air injection system on a Yamaha XV535 (92) can be replaced by a set of 'K&N' Filters, or does someone know were i can find a used/new Air Injection System....

Hope that this reads ok ????

    Ckaz:huh:

  14. Hi and welcome to the YOC Ckaz,

have i read your post correctly £100 for the bike or is it £100 for the new pump?

plenty of craic on the YOC

    cheers al

    Hi Al,

So you'll be impressed when I say it was £100 for the bike! I kid you not! Bargain huh? well, let's hope we're not eating these words too soon and fingers crossed we can get her running! ps the guy even threw in a 'clymer' manual for her...sweeeet!

  15. Hello Again...

We have taken the LHS plastic chromed affect side panel off to look at what we thought would be the 'Air Injection System' contained therein.....well it was'nt there.....lol.We have tried to look on-line for onfo about this system but do not seem to be having much luck. When i purchased the 1992 XV535 it came with a Clymer Workshop Manual which states that if the bike is a 1992 bike it should have an Air Injection system fitted.....Does anyone have any suggestions, we have been thinking about trying to configure a 'K&N' Air filter solution alternative to the standard Air injection system if we cant find one.....please help.

    Ckaz

  16. Thanks Guys for the warm welcome.......hope to be chattin' to a few of you guys soon, NW rideout next year Blackhat sounds good....hopefully the XV535 will be up and running long before then, if not ER6 will do !!

    Ckaz :D

  17. Hello everyone...

I have just joined the Club.........I live in Northern Ireland and am very new to Yamaha's. I currently own a Kawasaki ER6-F (09 black)and have also owned a Honda CBF125 (also black) but have very recently purchased a Virago XV535 (92 Silver), this new bike is very much a project as it currently isn't running but for £100 what do you expect !!!

My hubby has already given her the 'once over' and has diagnosed that the fuel pump is faulty, so we have purchased a new fuel pump from ebay..... it arrived today so fingers crossed....lol.

Will keep you all updated.......hope yous have'nt dosed off yet.....

If we need help we will definately be screaming for your advice & opinions on the forum,

    Cheers

    CKaz

    ;)
