  1. before you start looking for air leaks it could be the slide in the carb stuck if it has a slide i dont know anything about dts you could also try wiggling the throttle cable where it goes into the carb as my yb100 had this problem and it was the throttle cable getting stuck and leaving the slide fully open.

  2. you really need to get the timing done right. opening up the points "a bit" is not accurate enough!

yer i think the points is the only timing on the bike so will do that tomorrow with a feeler gauge thanks drewpy

  3. Right i have opened my points a bit and my acceleration has got tons better in 2nd gear when i hit 30mph it feels like my bike accelerated quick a bit like a powerband but i dont like it because i think i should of changed gear before wonder if anyone who has had a yb100 could tell me what speed they change gear at and what speed they could get another problem is if i go into 4th it loses all momentum the engine note changes and i slow right down say i change into 4th at 45mph it will go down to 40mph and sort of stay there.

all help appreciated hopefully this is my last topic about my bike :P

    anyone have any ideas?

  4. Apparently new laws in Europe give the bosses all the power to do what they want.

This includes giving the sack even when on maternity !

Some day we'll have the last laugh :D (carma)

congratz on the news about the baby mate

  6. Short answer Yes.

As far as it goes the exhaust is THE critical component on these engines. Minor exhaust issues can rob masses of power. If you lose 2-3 hp from something when you only have 8 or 9 to start with its going to hurt.

You MUST get the exhaust to seal properly, if not the bike wont be running properly as instead of drawing unburnt charge back into the cylinder you will pull in air which will mean your bike running lean at the most critical point in the power. I will also cause hesitation.

ah right there was some black stuff seeping out of were i know it is blowing from it isnt big but how would i seal it it is where the exhaust system connects onto the down pipe?

  7. last time i looked i know it was running rich because the spark plug was black sooty not oily i took the baffle out today but havent been far enough to see if any improvement can the police do you for riding without a baffle?

  8. i take it this bike will have points.

have you checked the adjustment and condition.my brother used to have a fizzy and the points needed adjusting regularly to keep it running well . chris

yes it has points mine are set at 0.014 i think, i might try 0.012 im also going to clean out the fuel petcock and filter and maybe try it with no baffles

where my exhaust attaches to the downpipe sort of thing it is blowing i wonder if that would affect performance?

  9. right my yb100 seems to pull nicely in 1st and 2nd and 3rd in 3rd gear it tops out at 40-45 if i change into 4th it will either stay at the same speed or drop speed i took it to a bike shop and they said it does not need a rebuild so i was just wondering if anyone on here could help also when i am riding it it feels like it hesitates only for like half a second sometimes like you let off the throttle and put it back on quick.

  10. Hallelujah !

    Guys,

and for the last time, you are taking a very stubborn stance regarding road hazards. If you don't stop spouting, and start listening you are going to learn the hard way.

    1) You have to take responsibility for your own actions, no one else is.

    2) You have to accept that there are many hazards on the roads, trust me, mud and horse crap are amoung the least likely to become a real risk. They don't move so you can take action without having to wonder where they are darting to next.

    3) Learn this;

A hazard is something that has the potential to be dangerous, depending on other factors

The risk is conbination of the hazard and how you deal with it,

The Danger is the resultant action of yourself and the hazard.

    For instance,

Petrol, on the floor is a hazard, the risk is fire

Cover it in foam and the risk becomes negligable - throw a match on it and it becomes dangerous, understand ?

The factor that changes things is the rider, not the hazard.

What are you going to do when you have an out-of-controll object hurtling towards you ?

Most of the guys on here have many years of experience riding, some have been riding since the last ice age, if you continue to discount the advive then you are doing nothing more than insulting the experience these people have.

i agree with this totally gas up knows what he is talking about derek i think you need to listen rather than speak if you know what i mean.

  11. buy yourself dog ,,,let it run infront of you,,,you only have a 50,,,,,when it see's the shit ,,it will eat it ,,,,problem solved.:)

hehe derek im only 17 ive had a few near misses on my bike and learned from them i think you should do the same instead of ranting maybe i think everyone is being a bit harsh on him as you do learn by your mistakes id say take the advice from some of the older guys on here as they have been riding alot longer than me or you.

  12. ok fit new points and condenser, adjust the point gap as per spec and time it as will be in the haynes book. Hopefully that will fix it.

right ill try and explain this the points touch together and then break when the engine is running i see a spark only a little one coming of the points when they are closed.
