  1. Right got the bike stripped down. Its a yamaha dtr125 1994 model with powervalve. but wont fire up, its got fuel in and theres a spark but heres the problem.

    Theres a spark when the ignition is not on but stops when ignition is live.

    So ignitions on and all lights, temp guage and powervalve works but theres no spark, then cut the ignition and theres a spark and it fires up for afew secs then dies again. Had this problem before it got stolen where the spark would sometimes stop and to start it you had to flick the ignition on while kicking it over. Could this be something simple ignition coil? or would a whole rewiring be needed? Also the nuetral light stopped working jsut before it was stolen which im sure is something inside the generator or gearbox that is causing this?

    That can be solved later but atm i need help on the sparking issue to get it running propely??

  2. i doubt it will be this but if you have had to redo the wiring there maybe a problem with the ignition mine was the same, i have to kick it and turn the key to the "on" at the same time as kicking and it fires up firse time but if i dont theres a spark ect but wont fire.

  3. hi there i have took the back wheel off to change the tyre but as the bikes been stode for afew weeks now i thought id start it just to give it a run but i forgot to put it in nuetral as the light do'nt work and whn it i kicked it over the the sprocket turned and got the chain stuck, is it easy to get the front sprocket off without taking the left side engine casing off as i dont really want to drain any fluidsg unless theres a easier way??

  5. awhile back i had a problem with all the electrics as the back indicator had been smashed so didnt work then everything stopped working, discovered that all the wires under the seat had melted together( shorted out from indicator i think) so after hours and many lenths of wire fixed all the wires so everything works fine now, horn, alarm, lights ect.

    the problem now is the neutral light and oil light dont work anymore, iv looked at all the rest of the wires under the seat and headlight but there all fine, could it be anything to do with a relay or something, or whatever detects its in neutral from the gearbox? thanks 4 anyhelp in advance

  6. long time since last post but thanks for help, i took top end off and piston rings were nackered so changed them and polished all the carbon off the head and piston and also put a 17 teeth sprocket on front and now it is better then its ever been will reach 70-75 and will go off the clock downhills not even red lineing no problem. before it wouldnt hit 55 even downhills then would cut out (rings i think loosing the compression) just run it in and is sweet as a nut thanks

  7. Found the bike to be very pleasant for riding around town so far. On a longer journey it obviously gets a bit mundane hovering around 65. However it gets me to work much quicker to work and is a pleasure to ride. Very responsive with what to me feels like good low down pull. So up to 40 in town situations it doesnt really need to be any quicker.

    Only problem I had was a faulty speedo sensor. I had read of this on various reviews so it was expected to happen. A new sensor got fitted and it has been fine since. Not too much of an inconvenience as I pass the bike shop every day on the way to work. I have now covered approx 700 miles since ownership of the bike.

    i had same problem but i jsut waved a magnet infront of it and its been fine ever since

  8. this is because when the engine is on tickover the lights are powered by the battery but when you rev more power is going thought the battery to charge it so the lights get slighly more power, totally normal but cant help with the manula sorry

  9. i have cleaned out the exhausts and also cleaned the spark plug and set the oil pump as it was giving to much oil thought and the accelaration has improved but top end still at around 58-60 then as soon as it hits 60 the revs just bog and die, i tryed lookin up the exhaust port to see how the powervalve was set but couldnt see it, the pistion seemed really shiney on the surface didnt look clogged, how can you tell is it is coked or not? cheers

  10. i dont usually abuse it only got it to 80 twice to c whts it could do usually stay around 65 but its been built from different years so the clocks say 6000miles but engine might have done alot more, im not very mecanically minded is a rebuild sumert you can do yourself or best in the shop?

  11. dtr125 with a dep silencer, when i got it last october up till the topic about starting problems last month it would do around 70 easily and at a push 80,but since then when it hits 60 the revs jsut stop even downhill with the wind wont go above 60 and thts in 5th still dosnt go faster in 6th jsut lower revs ne1 hav any ideas? cheers

  12. there is a spark when the ignition is off but then when the ignition is turned on the spark goes thn come bk when turned back off, but to start u gota turn the key as u kick and it will start and stay running but if i turn it off with the key and leave it for 10 seconds it wont start and u gota turn kill switch to off thn kick the started 1'ce thn tunr kill switch back on thne kick and turn key and it will start and since then the indicators have stoped workin do you think this is related and more importantly any help with it, owt at all, any ideas jsut say cheers
