    Sweet Ride!

trivia: what stroker is she stradling?
  2. Oh yea, and it was without the windscreen. Looks better without(imho)just for wallpaper ogling, though i was going to ask at one time where to get that exact one. Thanks once more for the re-post pics!
  3. Fabulous and it was one of the driveway pics I used, I think that's the one (wrong about the scenic backdrop) I wish she was mine! Thanks!!
  4. YEA!! SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!! That is THEE bike, and the pic I used for wallpaper i thought was parked on -or near- more lush green grass, scenic background (maybe) and of the right side of bike if I recall. Thanks for that!
  5. Hey Drewpy, do you have pics posted elsewhere, anywhere of the XS400 from this post? edit: btw I remember using that pic for my desktop wallpaper for a time
  6. Hey, thanks, but first of all new - yes! Budget not to worried about for the dampers. I guess the idea was that i was considering more black. Black chain guard instead of chrome, black levers, anything else misc. etc. These LOOK good, like you say, so i was curious if they function good. Most likely will end up going with Hagon, but was wondering if anyone has these, THANKS!
  7. Can someone tell me if these shocks are worth getting or any good? Thanks! My link
  8. I thought i should edit and take the dude's phone # off to be nice. That thing was posted May 10, on Craigslist 13 days! Did johnsnownw pick it up?
  9. i know this isn't classifieds but i couldn't refuse: oh and i was going to put this on the stateside XS400Forum but thought it might stay here longer, ha. 1981 yamaha xs400 special with 42 ORIGINAL miles sell or trade - $2250 (cottage grove) thats right 42 miles bike has had new tires installed for safety reasons and a new battery, real interesting history this bike is pretty much "new" runs and rides great will sell outright or trade for a smaller on/off road plus cash MUST SEE, DO NOT TEXT, call 81 XS400
  10. why didn't you contact the ebay seller to measure before sending? The Classics forum isn't exactly heavily trafficked so to expect an answer in less than a day?? Not always, ha Might help to re-post in the 'workshop'
  11. That ebay item/website last post, seller said: These are EMGO Mufflers - nichesupply Are they in fact EMGO's. Whichever they are, are they made in Taiwan? Thanks, still shoppin round.
  12. Orchestral bliss, indeed! Thank You! This eBay listing I almost considered purchasing : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dunstall-Reverse-Cone-Motorcycle-Muffler-Chrome-Triumph-/160507438303?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item255efd24df Not certain they are the exact same pipes, have to contact the seller.
  13. Anyone know the exact manufacture, model of these mufflers??Yamaha XS400 2A2 caferacer with Dunstall silencers Seem too loud?
  14. iow, WELCOME!!!!!! 2A2 should be 400D, which would be 1977, as accurately mentioned already.
  15. On second thought after reading this post http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/topic/23451-virago-535-fork-oil-seals-dont-fit/ maybe I'll think better of it.
  16. I'm hoping to hear that this could be a DIY 1-person task but anyway here is another view on ebay of the dust seals that come with the seals ebay It's more the quality of the actual fork seals that that I'm waiting to decide on purchasing, otherwise just go with $34 usd for those 4 things from NWVCP. good luck, btw
  17. I was hoping for that reply as i've only just taken the caps off and am about to attempt this. New seals I suppose are in order: I was wondering about seals that I almost purchased from ebay. They are on both ebay UK and ebaydotcom. Fork seals and Dust seals Except the dust seals look as though very thin, that is low profile to them. Are these seals any good? . . . if anyone has used them. Or you get what you pay for?

    Bike Names

This is important. Especially toward treating it with a bit of feeling and as something temperamental, which it truly is; every vehicle, same model, mfg'd same day etc. is different, unbelievably. I once had scum neighbors who's dog's name was Shithead. When they yelled at their dog it brought down the property value of the neighborhood. Noone was pleased with it but gotta say it's more affectionate than just "hey!" The dog didn't know any different. Mine isn't even put together, but at least has an unoriginal name, pronounced as Carmin and spelled Carmine as in carmine red. When it's put all together and on the road she gets a new name, Eila. Means light, (certainly not like feather light), more like "beginning to see the light" - haven't ridden in a long time.
  19. Good to know and thanks for the sagely advice as always sage one. er Drewpy. If such is the case maybe this means more bang for my buck? ha,ha. More bark for my buck! (couldnt find that kneeslap emo, wish they were alpabetical
  20. I knew I was asking the right person and guru; makes perfect sense - different shape (however slight), different part number. However i did make a partially thorough effort to search the YOC and found nothing. From what I can tell from 'stock' photos that I've found I cannot tell the difference. Microfiche are identical drawings (i think). So was hoping this could be expanded on; different cone shape, would that not mean slightly more restricted airflow. Hope this isn't all so adamantine of me, soooo, I'll probably
  21. Welcome by the way Using the search will get you good answers. Here's one example. Here's a link that still works for the 200A Found the diagram from another forum with a good suggestion. (That ol' Merv seems to get around ) Turns over great using the starter? Has it been running yet, and with the starter?
  22. found a good deal on 77 XS360 mufflers, I know, i know, different displacement - even different part # ! , but what would the result be exactly. Too much back pressure? Carb tuning? Runs bad? Shortens life of motor?
  23. Wasn't aware they came that way, are those from Yamaha? My motor is apart and the ex. ports, everything cleaned up, just haven't bothered to pry them out yet . .be awhile before need to. But from the front, or outward there is no evidence of (or what used to be) a groove.
  24. I wouldn't have known that particular term if not FOR the picture. But for others not always a handy diagram to view and figure it out. Anyway here from 1978 to my mailbox is the scan below. $24.95 USD + 8.95 shipping. (I like the price of the Hayne's sticky download ). Somewhat different than the Hayne's, so a very nice supplement to have. Printed in U.S.A. ?Only one printing? No wonder 1-800-CLYMER (whatever it is) told me it doesn't exist.
